lag and control issue ??

hi i just started using the dolphin, and im not sure if its my laptop or the emulator thats causing it to lag, im trying to play ToS in class but its really laggy i have not tamper with the settings at all can anyone help ? and secondly what is the best plug in for control and how do i set it up ? thanks a bunch in advance

tales of symphonia, err control issue is taken care of, but im only getting 3 FPS

Well gamecube emulators are very slow o nothing will speed it up.
