I didn't check Inca's link. But this is a summary of how the exploit works, from my understanding:

When Sega ported PSO to GC they left a big gap for the server setup. It seems that you are allowed to enter the ip of the particular server... which means if certain people tried, they could design their own client software for sending different information. Through this technique a small program can be sent to the GC to be executed, which in turn is equipped so you can transfer games to and from the GC.

Yes... theres no point to modding your GC at this point (its better to use Free Loader for imported discs, and you can't burn GC games because its an unknown format, so don't even speculate on that).

For the PSO ripping method, you also need a BBA (Broadband Adapter) which can be a real pain get. There are other methods which are now available.....

ummmmm.....I recently modded my GC..You can burn disks (With appropriate case or 3.5mm DVD's) I made a couple emu dvd's for it. they work fine...the limit is that you can only burn 1.4gb, the same capacity as the normal GC disk, since the laser can't read beyond that point. I don't have a BB adapter so I haven't tried to backup a game yet. But from my reading you simply burn the GCM/ISO with nero....

Yeah there has been a breakthru in GC modding recently. Allows burning backups. But thats in borderline of this forum rules AFAIK so lets not make a fuzz about it.
