Question backing up gamecube games

I was wondering how I would go about making backups of my gamecube games. I know I will need a PC, GC, and broadband adapter. I dont what tool to use or where to get it. I know to play my backups I need to have PSO ver I & II. I also know that the game cube apparently reads the data backwards so a pc drive is out of the question.

No. XBox DVDs are spun the same way, however they read outside to in rather than inside to out. A better idea IMO as you have better speeds and less seek time on the outer rim.

Hmm, sorry, a bit off-topic... If Xbox DVDs are read from the outside-in, would it be possible to somehow invert the data and make an Xbox DVD readable on a PC? I realize even if this could be done, it would be incredibly slow.

It's getting the drive to read it off in the first place.

If the xbox really does read outside to inside then its like the dreamcast. The outside of a disk is a lot faster then the inside. That is because the drive reader doesn't have to go back and forth to read the data. The lens does move for the outside but not as much. And isn't talk about the xbox a little out of place in a Gamecube fourm ?:

I'm pretty sure the DC reads mostly like a conventional reader, inside to out. IIRC it has 2 tracks, the first PC/CD readable one and the rest in the proprietory GD-ROM format which allows 1Gb per disc, but it still reads inside to out.

You could buy a ViperGc gamecube modchip, then load a app from a dvd and you can backup games much faster then the PSO exploit. And offcourse play backups from burned dvd...
