I hope it's real this is the way i think we will be able to play dc emulater in the future (meaning anyday now) It will only work with cdrs backups because Gd's won't work or ISO's would work too.

Re: Kagero Website Launched

Anyone can make a page saying they have a working Dc Emulator.... but whatever.... I hope it is real.... but judging by the looks of the site, it looks grim.

Hey!!! whats this??? I thought one of the rights in this country was "innocent 'till proven guilty". Not the other way around!! Until some solid evidence has appeared, we must reserve our judgement. We all thought that xeon was a fake, and it isn't... I say we wait until it comes out, and THEN pass judgement...

Re: Kagero Website Launched

Not to be rude but how do we know Icarus works, all we have seen is screenshots.
Cyrus has a reputation as an emu author already so people believe his emu is real, just because this guy is new doesn't mean his is fake.

At least Icarus showed some screenshots, Kagero shows-- Nothing. If the author of Kagero needs the Emu author reputation, he can always send a few sheets of his sourcecodes to a trustable person, Bobbi as an example, to verify it.

Re: Kagero Website Launched

My point is that it is extremely easy to fake a console screenshot to look like it is running on a emulator, the easiest way is to run a pixilator over the image, I'm sure people who are better with the programs could do better than that.
Screenshots mean nothing, the only way is to see the code but why should this guy when no-one else does, until either Icarus or Kagero is released I will with hold judgement.

This just in:

Tentative Release Date
by Tonka

Tonka again. Some bad news... we have run into a few complex issues in which we wish to resolve very soon. We understand that this is labeled so far as fake and undetermined in the emulation community and that is why I said before, we plan to release Kagerou 0.1 to prove that I have the knowledge of programming and to express the basic layout of Kagerou. Also, it seems that after much work, it has become impossible to us and no matter what we do, we will not be able to play Dreamcast commercial disks. So, we are abandoning this feature just for now, at some day we will return to the idea. But do not worry, it can play backup commercial games (ISOs and IMGs) and homebrew games. So far, the release date for Kagerou 0.1 is set for sometime in January. The final version as estimated by me should be complete by August 2004 with plenty of betas, screens, and hopefully movies before that time. Site is also working on a neater layout... just be patient and I promise I will have something out by 2004.

Re: Kagero Website Launched

hmmmmm......why do i find this funny? Dont you think that if they planned on making a DC emu, then they would of read on it first? Meaning they would of known that a cd player cant read a GD-Rom. So they would of left out that idea in the first place? wtf.. to me this is big peice of $hit. And no author will say : "This emu will be done in 2004" ........

Re: Kagero Website Launched

*sigh*.........

Dont judge a book from its cover!! the reason why we believed _SF_ was an emu author because he posted the source code of the pixel shaders he use. THEN, someone else was able to get Halo running.

Orcourse, what this guy saying is a bit obscure, GDroms cannot be read by normal cd drives. Weather he can do it using software or was he refering to normal cdrs , that i do not know. But i dont call people's work a "fake" or not when I dont even know how to code a simple program!!!!!

Yours,
-Elly

Strange, is it not? This sounds like a total fluke. Maybe they're n00b programmers. Well, now all we can hope is for Icarus to unleash it's goodness in the future.

Re: Kagero Website Launched

This is why I never understood why people announce projects so early .. why not just announce when you have something to release, and just skip all this nonsense that it always caused by announcing something months and months before anything is expected to be released.
