Re: I bought a DC
One factor wich help to playstation to be so popular was the piracy (Or at least in my country), you could buy a pirate game in U$3 by CD. The playstation rules in my country for a long time an dthe dreamcast was not so popular because it was hard to find games for it even originals.
I heard that some DVD burners have G-Rom compatibility but i donīt know if itīs true

Re: I bought a DC
My bud got a DC for $300 (Canadian) back when it was still 'da bomb, and it came with over 300 games (burned copies, the guy he bought it off of was a an actual game tester), two controllers, and a mem. card, for that time, that was a sweet deal..
For your payment, I can say that I couldn't have did much better, the machine itself would cost the most, I could probably find it from around $20-50 (Canadian), and I know a couple places around the 3 towns I live near to where I can get DC games ranging from $5-10 (Canadian again :P) The main thing I like about the DC is that you can surf the net with it (my friend owns the CD that allows that), while atm my lil' PS2 cant...

Re: I bought a DC
hmmmmm hey guys what do you think about this deal?
DC with 30 games, 1 VMU, 2 controls and all the connection cables... for 250.000 pesos (1USD: 3.000 pesos) that makes it for less than 100 USD... |

Re: I bought a DC
nope.... i haven't bought it yet (no money, but I am trying to get it) but it has titles like Soul Calibur and Resident evil code veronica (I just buy it for those 2 titles, anything else is god but not a must) I'll try to get my mom to buy it for me but I cannot tell her that it is a game console or else.....

Re: I bought a DC
60 bucks for a DC?? you got ripped off big time!!
i can buy used DC with a 6 month warranty for 19.99 at phatboys the dc is fun for a little but you will quickly get tired of it. i was one of the first to buy a DC when theyre were 300 bucks i bought house of the dead 2 with i thought it was awesome...but now i say what in the hell was i thinking?? i can think of only ONE reason why i would buy a DC maybe to play a little but SNES games on since you dont need a boot disc or a mod chip to play homebrew games or emulators

>>60 bucks for a DC?? you got ripped off big time!!
No I didn't. If you read, I also got a controller, 2 Mempacks, a modem, a rumblepack, and 5 games. >>the dc is fun for a little but you will quickly get tired of it. Whatever you say, captain Insano. Not near as boring as a Playsatation 1, 2 or X-Box. Im not kidding. This is what I think. >>i was one of the first to buy a DC when theyre were 300 bucks i bought house of the dead 2 with i thought it was awesome...but now i say what in the hell was i thinking?? I would say you are a good man for giving money to SEGA. >>the games cost more than the system does.... So? |

Re: I bought a DC
kenmasters, there is an EDIT button. and also, dude chill out on the DC stuff. dreamcast kicks ass, dude. i agree with ROMstein here. dreamcast has provided more hours of multiplay fun for my friends and i than EVERY OTHER SYSTEM EVER, COMBINED.
dreamcast is going to last forever, thanks to all it's multiplayer games, especially Rush2049 (my favorite) by the way, it's nice that you can buy a dreamcast for 19.99. it really is. i love how you like going around and telling people that what they got sucks, and you can make something way better than they can |

Re: I bought a DC
ken, think of something, consloes of the 128 bit era are too expensive (no GC, PS2 or XBOX can be aquired by less than 900.000 pesos, which would make it for like 300 USD, which is a prohibitive cost for many..... besides, with the dreamcast you can do far more things than with the other consoles with no hassle..... have you herad of NetBSD for dreamcast?... in that case, even that major developer is giving for free a replacement for a basic PC, which is good, as many people who could not afford to buy even a basic PC bought a DC with netbsd and now can surf the web and all (very useful to get info for university work)..... with other consloes, you can get linux working, but you have to modchip and you take the risk of losing your money in the process....

I'm thinking of purchasing a dreamcast to play translated japanese NES and SNES games on. Very cool methinks.

Re: I bought a DC
>Meh, the DC is worth the buy for thousands of reasons... its great game library is the first one that comes to mind
Look at shenmue.... it is a GREAT game.... also RE: code veronica and soul calibur..... both great games later re-released in another consoles..... now, how many times have you seen games from an "old and dead" console ported to newer, favorite consoles?.... it is like if they ported N64 games to the gamecube..... |

Re: I bought a DC
Rayman 2 has been ported. Along with the Resident Evils, Soul Calubur, and the Sonics. Quake III was ported to the DC, as was Unreal. The DC probablt has the greatest Library of games from any system......EVER. Also, Lots of netplay games were put out right from the start.
