Corrupted xbox HDD ques.

My bro came to me with a question, we have accumulated like 3 xboxs and one has a corrupted hdd and was wondering if it was able to be formated like a regular hdd and copy one of the other xbox hdd's to it. Now i was wondering if that was possible before i tell him to kill some xboxs. or tell me the how to fix corruptedness.

sure its possible.

but the HDD must be unlocked before you put it in an other xbox.
and it needs an modchip.

it also works with softmod but it sucks cos you have to swap the HDD while its running.

So you want to transfer your files from one Xbox HD to the other? Sure it's possible. You need to format the corrupted one as FatX using an application on a modded Xbox. Then you can FTP the files from one of the others to your computer, then back to the newly formatted HD. I did something similar but I got a completely new HD (an 80 GB one) for my modded Xbox and used that instead. Check out the site elitegamer posted above for more information.

Note: You can't just format it like a regular HD on your computer. The Xbox uses a different filesystem (FatX) that Windows doesn't recognize. Also, you need to unlock the hard drive your going to format before you do this (if it's a stock HD). Again, check the site posted above.

Google for xbox drive unlocking. You must be able to run a softmod to get the "key" to "unlock" your hard disk with which means your xbox must at least be able to boot and run games. If the corrupted xbox is capable of this it should be possible to save it.
