General emu?

If I were to make an emulator, what would all the conditions need to be that makes it legal (like the ones featured here)?

Don't pack it with illegal copyrighted stuff like BIOSes, firmware, software, or games. Basically anything that has code that wasn't made originally by you that is copyrighted.

So, as long as I make a functional and compatible emulator and add nothing that is not my own design, it's legal?

Hmmm...

Well, you can use sourcecode from other emulators if it's under the GPL, but if you use a source for an emulator that's under the GPL agreement, you must provide your sourcecode (example: the VBA and it's various builds).

To have an emulator featured on this site, the emulator must be next gen. I guess PlayStation/N64 emulators on up as well as other emulators that came after that era even if they don't look next-gen (GBA/NDS). It doesn't have to be fully functional but it should show some progress.

Anyone feel free to correct anything that I'm saying if you think it's incorrect.
