Best Emulators

Hey! Long time no see.

I haven't emulated anything since about August 2005. So I'm wondering what all the best emulators are currently and plugins if applicable.

I'm interested in the following systems,
Nintendo
Playstation (Still ePSXe?)
Nintendo 64
Sega (Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, Saturn, Dreamcast etc.)
Perhaps Gamecube and PS2 as well.

Thanks.

Nintendo

FCE Ultra My personal and many other people's choise for NES emulator. It offers all features you'd want and nice graphics when configured correctly.

Nestopia The still going strong old Nestopia is many people's choise for NES emu.

Playstation

ePSXe If you're the person that prefers enhanced graphics (better than the real console). You have to get used to the configuration of this emulator though to get most out of it. I'm personally favoring ePSXe a lot.

pSX
For people that wants accurate PSX emulation.

Nintendo 64

Project64 Without doubt the best N64 emu. Has a newer better version available for donators. But the public one also works very nicely.

Sega

Gens/Gens32 Are probably among best choises for Genesis/Sega Mega drive/32x and SegaCD. Gens32 is a more updated version and is recommended to check out for people with a bit newer hardware and for working SegaCD save state support.

Kega Fusion Is also just as good if not better than Gens for same platforms.

SSF Is the best choise for Saturn emulation. Has great performance due to dynarec emulation support.

nullDC Recently released and already with the initial release it plays most games just fine and at full speed on decent hardware! Check out the wild and very active screenshot thread!

Playstation 2

PCSX2 The impossible made possible, this emulator is actually capable of running quite a lot PS2 games but you still need very powerful hardware such as dual core CPU (AMD Athlon X2 / Opteron or Intel Core 2 Duo) and a decent gfx card if you prefer enjoyable speeds in 3D games. Check out the screenshot thread for many nice screenshots and info.

Gamecube

Dolphin is the biggest hope in Gamecube emulation right now which has a bright future thanks to recent improvements. Expect a dual core CPU and 64bit OS to be required in near future if you want to be able to play games at good framerates though.

EDIT: JKKDARK beat me to it as I wrote a little more detailed list.

Nintendo: Nestopia (Seriously, this emulator is amazing)
Playstation: pSX (if you're ok with no enhancements, plus it gets updated occaisionally)
Nintendo 64: Project64
Sega Genesis, Sega CD, 32x: Kega Fusion
Dreamcast: ? I've been hearing quite a lot about nullDC lately
PS2: There are other emulators for the PS2 besides PCSX2?

JKKDARK: I thought you didn't like pSX.

Here's my list:

NES:
Nestopia 1.36, truly the strongest in my opinion, has all nice filters, 7zip support to select one specific game out of the goodset zips, great compatibility, great speed and sound, great input system (you can set every key), and good kaillera support. What can one want more?

SNES:
Zsnes 1.51, i like the GUI, great compatiblity, easy to configure, Netplay was sadly taken out for the current release, but if you really want to play online you can play with version 1.42 which is perfectly capable of playing short games like Super Street Fighter 2 etc. but not Monster-Games like SD3.

GB/GBA:
Visual Boy Advanced 1.7.2, once again i think the most compatible, easiest to configure, all around the best, thought sadly also no Netplay.

NintendoDS:
No$GBA 2.4, overall the most compatible, and since the last release finally easier to handle.

Nintendo64:
I prefer Project 64 1.6 over 1964 0.99 though you might want to switch game specificly. There's also the chance if you want to donate 20$ to get the pj64 1.7 beta version which (i guess) is superior to both (as it's still being worked on). Can't tell much about it though.

Playstation:
SSSPSX 0.0.34e! In my opinion this is the best Plugin based Emulator around. It features a very simple and easy to configure design (very straight forward), the ability to make an iso list in the main window (though sadly no different video plugin setup for special games), great speed and compatibility (it's based on PCSX) and most importantly it has full Rumble Support for Gamepads like the Xbox 360 Pad. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Other than that the already mentioned pSX Emulator v 1.11 which also has good Rumble Support and compatibility but no plugins/enhancements.

Sega Genesis,32x and SegaCD:
Kega Fusion and Gens32 Surreal imo, though you sometimes have to switch to find the best for specific games.

Dreamcast:
nullDC, was released a short while ago and truly rocks, great compatibility, only problem is there's no Pad Support yet (but you can use Joy2Key, or ControlMK to solve this issue) other than that the best DC emu in my opinion.

Playstation 2:
PCSX2 0.92 for Windows and 0.93 for Linux, what can i say the best PS2 Emulator, simple as that.

Some guy tested all 32x and sega cd games on Kega per every version till they were all working flawlessly so I find that hard to believe. Care to name a few?

I agree with you. I once used Gens but went for Kega Fusion after I saw how stable Kega ran.

I agree that it's a really good emulator, but I can't play it at regular speeds on my rig.
