about the playonline and the hdd

Ok is it possible to take the hdd for ps2 put it in the computer put a game on it and the run it off the playonline...or should i just blow 40 dollars and get the hdd loader thanks

I think that the 2nd option is proper... gonna try it when I'll buy a new PS2 + network adapter

Edit: and also your pc won't recognize the ps2 formatted hdd
