Emulator proposal
Here is an idea for an emulator: a Multi-Platform Open Source Console Emulator (MPOSCE). An emulator that can run games from multiple consoles and can be compiled on multiple computing platforms. Unfortunatly, I lack the kind of programming skills required to write such a program. But if the program is open source, there's be lots of people wroking on it, and we'd probably have the most complete emulator in the world. What's more, being an open source program, there'd be nothing the big companies could do to stop it. <evil grin here>

Yes. I mean one program that will emulate GBA, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, NES, Xbox, GC, N64, and so on.

Ok... what exactly would be the purpose of such a thing? It would be so bloated it wouldn't be funny, and there would still have to be code for each seperate emulator... If you would really like, I can write a program that will launch any emulator you pick. That would have the same effect.

Okay Okay. I know we won't be seeing a working emulator for the GC, Xbox and PS2 for some time, but once others have gotten the hang of emulating them, it could be included in the program. As for the code bloating problem, why not have separate modules for each console type that can be downloaded separatly? This would let you only get the emulation code for the consoles you want to emulate. For example, just download the common program and the PS1 and PS2 code modules (when they're made). The problem with this is that you'd have to work out a portable format for the code modules.

well like i said...... download the emulators you prefer the most and put them in @ruantec's program. itll do the same thing. then all you have to do is fire up @ruantec's tool and choose your emulator. ez as 1-2-3 |

How big do you think the code for an emulator capable of running, say, 8 different cosoles would be? For the portable modules problem, you could have separate command line .exe files for each different console type, and have the one launcher for configuring and starting them all.

IT WOULD BE HUGE! Only for the nintendo, the code is really long.. I could say that the emualtor could be around 10-20 megs big.

Well roxor if you are really interested in this multi-emulator idea then pick up a programming book and start reading. As the old saying goes, "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself".

Why would someone bother in creating such a program? If you have to download the common program then download the @ruantec's and if you want to download the core of every emulator, then download the emulators existing, then, you put the emus in a folder and just use the frontend (@ruantec's). Why do you want to create a frontend for the common program and the core if you have right now a frontend and such cores? (@ruantec's and the emus, respectively).

I agree. Futhermore, normally a specific peice of equipment is better han a generic one. I'm sure the same wpuld go for emus.

Isn't your PC a generic piece of equipment, and the console a specific one? Still, the advantage of a generic system is that you can use it for multiple things, rather than just the one. 10-20 megs for an 8 console emulator doesn't sound that big, especially compared to most recent games which are easily 650+ meg. Or WinXP for that matter, which weighs in at over 1.5GB.

However, owing to the very nature of a PC upgradability, the games on consoles often turn out better thean thier PC counterparts, only being emulated way down the line. My PC is a complete multimedia system, but a proper Hi-Fi system would probably be better. It's a games machine, but ofen consoles are better. It's a DVD player, but standalones can be better..... >10-20 megs for an 8 console emulator doesn't sound that big, especially compared to most recent games which are easily 650+ meg. Hi, Ninja, take a look to your ninjatool.exe, it contains a "non-virus", like the image I attached. I tried to found on Google more info over Joke.Jepruss, but I couldn't know what it is, I mean, my antivirus tells me it's not a virus, so, why it has been founded? I'd like to see your tool, just a try, because I love the @ruantec Emu-Selector (Í'm the beta tester , btw if anyone wants to d/l it, from I don't use your tool here or from NGEmu news). So, I won't try your tool until u or someone could tell me what Joke.Jepruss is.Thx, bye
