Angry PS2 BIOS Updates

Opinions please!
Who here thinks that its really annoying when Sony desides to "upgrade" the bios from their ps/ps2 consoles? Thus, if we have an older system, we either live with its "outdated" or BIOS or defects, or we get the new version of the system. Simple, why don't they do some type of BIOS update disk, if thats even possible. In the sense, the bios is "flashed" with the new one and we get the benefits of the new bios. I know its probably not even possible, and they update other things that really need fixing. But let me know if that would be a cool idea SONY should have considered!!

And just how are you going to flash it? by purchasing a $50 Sony "BIOS Flash USB cable"?

Its just an simple idea, not like i expect them to do it. Since they too caught up in their own greed. Regardless, Sony is a great company, but they change their ps systems to soon and too far inbetween. Hey, dont give that idea of yours to Sony, they might just create that to make more money, just like those pointless v-stand and h-stands of theirs!

Well, look at the bright side.... it'd make looking for a PS2 BIOS for a PS2 emu waaay easier.

Angry

You got a point there.

Maybe this is where the ps2 HD can come into play. Gotta be a better reason for it than "faster" (**cough, not so fast'er) loading times for games copied to it and online purposes. Let me stop rambling.....

there is a "BIOS Dump USB Cable"
anyhow, i believe that they did put out a new BIOS disk after some initial problems on early jap machines but since then, have forgone the software route. the only thing i know of now is the dvd driver update that comes with the sony remote and resides in your memcard.

I heard that the BIOS updates used to be on 1M memory cards.

But I need to ask; why would you need BIOS updates?

BIOS updates fix some problems that the sys might have. Example, on PC's they can help with hardware compatibility and amoung many other things. This too would apply to the ps2, as in helping it work better then what it actually does. Or maybe, even worse....

Maybe if i kick my ps2, the audio problems will stop j/k

We were talking about something else. Thats of which you speak of just ahs the name of "flash" in which you could store roms, etc. We were talking about something that would allow you to "flash" your ps2 bios into an updated one.

IIRC,metalmurphy said that's what he did,he phoned them cause he had a V3 which has some problems, and asked if he could exchange it for a V5, they exchanged it.

It must depends on counties, here in France the PS2's warranty lasts 1 year, 90 days is for games.

There is one difference, Sony doesn't have the monopoly that Micro has in the OS department.

Hence the equation

Micro = Sony is false.

But I did started a thread a while back on who's the more evil of the two and Microsoft had a clean sweep.
