more console, the better?

with the relase of xbox and gc, ps2 dropped price by half. Which prove more competition can drop the price of consoles and its games, also give individuals the option to choose a console to own.
But i might missed out the "not so good" part of increasing number of consoles. So more console = better for individuals?

Well, I am the single person voting NO!

I don't think that there should be more than 2 consoles at one time. With 2 consoles, you can get a lot of the games you want on one console, while the other one has a few rare gems. Traditionaly, that has worked quite well while keeping the price point down.

PS2/GCN - Share an equal amount of AAA games
Xbox - crap, with a few rare gems

I agree on you with this one Ninja, but regarding the poll, I'll say I'm in between.

Yes because it will cause a price war between those companies and gamers would havethe luxury of buying the consoles at a lower price. Hey, like when the first release of PS2, its like its EXPENSIVE! well now, add a little more and you have TWO consoles for the price of the original PS2 price!

No because... you wanna know who's the no1 and the runner up.
And more consoles means having a hole in your pocket. You lose money quickly because of good games that each of the consles released.

I'll agree with that. Since Sony entered the console scene, it has the largest archive of games out there.

in my country ps2 sells quite well. it goes arround 230$. but the games are arround 75$,and for our life styles its too much.

That talk is not allowed here.

It doesn't bother me how much does the console cost, but I would prefer cheaper legal softwares.

For the number of consoles, I guess two are enough for competition.

well PS1 really make Sony the best gaming console. Now, PS2 edged the other consoles because people expect it to be much better than their PS1 and I think it did.
