Where's SNES/NES/GBA/GBC emulation?

NO talk of Game-Boy, Classic NES or Super Nintendo? Genesis? MAME?

Just curious....Maybe too classic for this forum, but I should hope not....

Misc Console Discussion - Emuforums.com

People just don't post about it very often.

Keep in mind that the 'NG' in NGemu stands for Next Generation. How is PSX emulation from the next generation? I have no idea, but that seems to be where the focus starts

The virtual console plays SNES and NES on a next generation console (Wii), so I guess you can consider them next gen.

There is a GBA section (VBA, which also emulates GBC and GB, they also have the handheld section)

Tech-savvy people are more into nextgen consoles than hyperretro ones ;p

As anyone who's been around a year, two years, five years can tell you...the sections are always changing. We add new sections for busy/new emulators (e.g. pSX) and delete the ones that don't get used much (e.g. the screenshot section got merged). The reason we don't have classic emulator sections is because no one posts about them--if we had more posts, there would be another section

Instead, you should add sections for NES, SNES, Genesis in NG Emu site.

Uh...... how about just retro for all retro stuff ;p (fits into Misc as well, though a Retro one wouldn't do much harm, since more specialized than Misc)

These doesn't fit on NGEmu, that's been discussed a few times, and the answer is still the same.

Why we need these sections if nobody post about these?

I'm not talking about NGE forum.
You can add new section "Retro Consoles" to NGE site.
& want to know what's the best emu for each retro console.
Also, "Best Emu Awards".
Yes...retro forum is useless.

XDK, your ideas are well founded, but you're missing a couple of points.

1. There might be a chance of opening up a 'Retro' section on Emuforums, but as has already been stated...it doesn't seem like there's much interesting in retro action here. Lately I've been playing SNES far more than any other console, but I don't feel a need to post about it. Although, maybe having such a section would stir up interest? Who knows.

2. You are free to post about ANY retro console emulator you like in the Misc section! To go with your example, if you wanted to know what the best, say, Sega Genesis emulator is, just make a new thread about it.

No...
Look at Emu Zone site:
http://emulator-zone.com/
Emu Zone cats is very good.
You guys should make new event:
NGE Best Emu Awards
You guys should nominate emus of every consoles, every year & choose the best 1, expecting PS2 emu.
& rewards the winners.
Do you know whats really is the best NES emu?

Yes (this is not worth a discussion though, as pitting emus against each others is very unfriendly. All emus and emu authors deserve at least equal respect for their works).
People would vote otherwise though (people generally vote specific emus and authors for different reasons than them being the best. Ultimately, people just mention their preferences, not what is "the best").

Was there a point in mentioning another website, by the way? Just because retro emulation is commonplace elsewhere does not mean it has to be made firstclass citizen here too, and on the double. As mentioned over the years, not only is the place mainly NOT about retro, but people also simply do not post much about retro either.

Misc emulation section is itself very small already. Dividin it into even smaller subsections would do no good.

Yep. And then it simply becomes a popularity contest.

Furthermore, what's the point of rewarding whoever 'wins'? If you happen to like a particular emulator, write the devs an email and say thanks. If they have PayPal or a way to donate, throw some cash their way. I haven't met an emu developer yet who thinks their program's existence would be validated by some meaningless internet award.

I think the big reason why there isn't a lot of SNES/Genesis/etc. emulation discussion here is because there isn't anything about it on the main site. Logically, it wouldn't make sense for someone to come here to ask questions or discuss SNES emulation if they don't even see a SNES section when they visit the main site, especially since there are plenty of other sites out there that dedicate some space to it. Now, before someone comes along, quotes me, and says "Exactly, there are already lots of other sites for that kind of discussion, so why bother with it here?", I'd just like to point out that all I'm saying is that I think the lack of interest in them on the forums is more due to the lack of attention on the main site more than anything.

Well, put my word in real quick. I would honestly like having a section for those(not in forum, on ng website) and have it up to date its a pain having to search the internet for the latest snes emus and all those.
