FireNES

Has anyone used this? I'm not a Firefox user so I can't try it but how can Mozilla get away with this? Unless they have some sort of deal with Nintendo...O_o

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7233

EDIT: lolz at the privacy policy O_o

The inner workings of this technology only allow the files to be loaded into temporary RAM of a computer while playing. When the browser is closed, the resource is no longer available.

This situation is analogous to visiting a friend and playing NES games with them, which, naturally is legal under the DMCA. If anything, FireNes actually deters the trading of ROM files on the Internet by removing the reason for such behavior to occur in the first place. If a user can simply play the game online, there is no reason for ROM trading. After large amounts of legal research, we have found that it breaks no laws, but acts as a legal deterrent against illegal ROM trading.

FireNes.com.ar itself is not the host of any ROMs, all games are linked from independent servers. As such, all legal inquiries must be directed to the administration of the aforementioned independent servers. Because of the general availability of the software, it appears that any legal action has been abandoned. For more information: VirtualNES.com

Mozilla REALLY does not review the addons, despite the claims that they do (only the most popular ones they 'feature' for FF3's recommended addons are really reviewed, to a lousy extent). More than 80 (eighty) Firefox addons listed in the Mozilla Addons contain deliberately malicious code made for no other purpose but malicious use, and yet. Go figure!

This was mentioned sometime ago, btw (I dug into this one a little at the time)
Firenes (extension) Enjoy Nes games through Firefox!

Theyre just toying their way with weasel words, as if making only public domain roms usable by default was this bad.
