New Genesis and SEGA CD emu.. From Kgen98 Author..

Kega 0.00 - Steve Snake, who created that awesome Genesis emu for DOS called KGEN98, has released KEGA 0.00, a Genesis/Sega-CD emu for Windows!

I will be testing this one out tonight..

This is a great emu! This is the first genesis emu to display sonic 2's 2 player correctly! It looks so much better now. All thats missing now is a full screen mode and 2xsai filtering .

Very impressive for a first release, although his YM2612 emulation isn't as accurate as he says, so I'm told.

The graphics emulation seems to be top-notch, maybe the best out there. Hopefully we'll see some even better releases in the future..

Kega is excellent and I am a confirmed fan of Steve Snake's ever since K-Gen 98. But I tested Kega against the lastest version of Gens and I must say that, at least to me, Gens is still the better Genesis emulator. Stef (the author of Gens) has improved the sound of Gens so now when you pick up treasures in Gauntlet 4, it sounds right. Also Gens will run in 32BPP color mode, where Kega only runs in 16BBP mode. Gens has GG cheats, Kega does not, Gens has 2x SAI graphics mode, Kega doesn't, and Gens has true fullscreen mode, where Kega dosen't. As far as sound, Gens is equal w/Kega but not better and colors are equally accurate in both emus. I realize that this is only the first release of Kega, but, as far as I'm concerned, Gens is still the better Genesis emu. Also Gens Sega CD emu plays Audio from the CDs, but Kega's Sega CD emu doesn't, yet.
sincerely,
sx/amiga
