I prefer the IdeaS emu (even if No$GBA might be better) and agree with RockmanForte!
If someone wants sound, he/she is free to try other emus with sound support. But as long as they all are still in development, the sound ist just annoying. But that's my oppinion, go make your one ones. Good job, keep working on it! CU Last edited by Neo85; April 24th, 2007 at 16:02. |

But... I do not liked people badmouthing telling that this emulator is better than two others. The authors are expecting us to say something positives because some of you are telling no$gba is better and etc. That would make them feeling turn off or something. That's not right, you know. That's why I just come here to say congratulations to them and not telling them which one is better.

It's great how it improved since the few last versions. I can actually see some 3d backgrounds in the castlevania games now.
Now if the palette bugs that were present ever since the 3d core was implemented, as well as the screen size and wireframe were fixed it'd look much better, since there's still a lot of incorrectly colored sprites, the 3d is still rendered in 255x191 and there's some awful wireframe all over the 3d models. But keep up the good work, the emulator's getting better and better. |

Castlevania POR will also pretty often just randomly freeze, but that's a game error, not emulation. It seems it needs some fast data transfer to work correctly or something. It happens on all emulators that run it right now it seems.
It's great how ideas accepts .sav files. I could use my savefiles to unlock everything from the start. It still has problems with detecting savefile types (Detects the game as flash 2 mb, it should be eeprom 64kb or 512kb, works with both), but it's better than the previous version which couldn't even save right. |

I still think no$gba is #1. But I like the progress iDeaS is making. In my opinion its now my #2 DS Emulator. I demoted Desmume to #3 because I haven't seen a new version for so long and I am not impressed with the current wip. If I don't see some improvement soon I'll pretty much give up hope on Desmume.

Then get off the emu scene now thanks. It's never been an instant thing so if you don't have any patience find a new hobby, or buy a DS...or do both. |

Could you please explain why you're not impressed? Because if that's due to a certain game not running, that represents a 0.3% of the total ammount of DS games, having another thousand left to try... Well, do you get the idea how stupid would be to review a program based on that input? :P

A General thing (might be offtopic):
I sometimes think about something: There are a few different emus for a game console and each one is great at some points. why don't those authors work together in a way? Same question here: there are 3 great NDS-emus, one's goot in compability, one's goot in sound, etc. So why not putting them together or just exchange knowledge? I don't get it. CU |

We already have the source opened, and I've answered as much technical questions as I could. I even try to explain as much as I can on my blog, but never got a single technical question there.
no$gba has a lot of good documentation, but since 2.3 he hasn't updated the copy on the web (the debugger version has it updated, but I'm not paying that fee for no$gba, as I don't need it), so he stopped "sharing" his information after that version. Ideas, well, he has a debugger on recent versions, but that's it, not much information has come from him, but I guess it's due to Lino not being fluent in english. So basically they have all our knowledge: I've "only" the published one from no$gba (which is great sometimes, and innacurate some many others, but anyway very old), and none from Ideas.
