What GPU is best for CRYSIS

Hi! Finaly i bought CRYSIS, the best pc gane ever made! But i was realy disapointed when i saw that it was set to medium settings. I want to play it at high settings so i decided to upgrade my pc.. well , i am not going to buy a totaly new pc i will just buy a new gpu and some more ram. I will upgrade the grafics card in a month from now and i havent decide is it better to buy the 8800gt 512mb or the 8800gts512mb? Also i saw that there are alot of different 8800gt512mb(Asus,Sparkie Gainward, e.t.c.) What is the best?) And about RAM if buy 1GBRAMDDR400 (so i will have total 2GBRAMDDR400) will it be enough for crysis or not? How much fps will i get with a 8800gt512mb or gts 512mb and my athlonx2 4400+?

well i have 1 8800GTX, my speed goes between 15-35fps with the dx10 tweaks (for dx9) and 1280x1024 AFx16, but no AA.

it all depends if you want eye candy or not.

8800GT 512, 8800GTS, 512 8800GTX or 8800Ultra.

those are the only cards recommended to use in crysis..... and damn, if people are going to game at resolutions like 1900x1600 or what ever they use, they damn well deserve low fps., just use 1280x960 and be happy the card works at all >.>

Do you play it on xp or vista? I have the dx10 tweaks too( i am running windows xp) and the game is unplayble in very high settings wth 1280x1024. It runs at 5-13 fps..... Is the 8800gt/gts 512mb better than 8800ultra (for crysis)?

I would wait for the geforce 9000 series since they won't delay too much, some people say they will be out in January. The 8000 series is out for a long time already, it definitely won't take much time before the new series is released and you will cry the money you gave for a today's top card before you even enjoy it.

This is what I thought as well, and the 8800GT/GTS 512MB are to 'help hold people over' so to speak. It wouldn't make much sense to release these cards, then less than 2 months later release new G9 midrange cards.

Geforce geforce 8900GTX isn't out let alone the 8800GTX 65nm rev.2. And with non-existent competition for ATI in the very highend market range NVIDIA has no real reason to push new veryhighend cards out the door really quickly.

there is no such thing as a 8900GTX and there will be no 8800GTX based on the G92 core.

what about the new ati cards?

anyone know when they're due out?

rumours are it's a 2 processor on one card deal with the 3870 core
that should be pretty good for crysis

With ATI's Driver support, I would never be so cruel as to recommend them to someone who wants to play the latest games. While on paper there cards look good, there shotty driver support always makes them fall short of what you expect.

I think the same thing. With no competition I don't see Nvidia releasing the 9xxx series. I just see them making $$$ on the 8800s as long as they can.

Crysis is the game they make from the future and using time machine to release it even with highest end rig you can find today wont run it full speed when it is max out. XD

Meh, I enjoy it at medium settings. I don't need an eye full of candy to enjoy a game . Though it would be nice to play at max settings and high resolution, no way I'm dishing out my life savings to upgrade a rig to just play a game .

I hate playing games at medium settings. When i play game i need to play it at max settings to enjoy it. Yesterday i read in a magazine that CRYTEK announced that CRYSIS is a trilogy. This means that there will be a CRYSIS2 and CRYSIS3.... Now i have 1 more err... 2 more reasons to upgrade my rig

Quad-SLI FTW!

Edit: and get a Penryn rig or something. I expect these games to heavily stress CPU usage. Either that, or you can just get a PhysX card and get rid of the CPU workload. More and more games are supporting those dedicated physics processing units.
