get a better psu so you can futureproof yourself when getting a new gpu or going sli. Another reason to get a better one is since your planning for high overclock levles and maybe even up the cpu voltage you'd be increasing your power requirements even further.
jonnyguru.com is one of the most respected trusted review psu review sites on the web. here's a list of their high end psu recommendation list. PSU Recommendations for High End Gaming PC's - jonnyGURU.net Forums You won't need anything from the Tier 1 list, just pick one from the tier 2-3 list. Actually people will probably replying in the next day or so that you'd be fine in the tier 4 list. I really don't think so since potentially future gpu+ high overclocked cpu(future quad core maybe) + more hdds + who know what else = alot of power consumption. You can find individual reviews on each psu product by using the search function in the website navigation bar. To be compatable with your old crt monitor: You will need to buy a $5 dvi/vga adapter for your 8800GT. Don't go to the Source or BestBuy they will overcharge you $20. Go to monoprice.com and get a dvi/vga adapter for $3-5. Oh and never buy another Monster Cable product in your life they all are rippoff, even when they have special 40% discounts going on.

I got a question about the cpu, what would be best?
(Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6850 CPU @ 3.00GHz 1333FSB 4MB L2 Cache 64-bit or (Quad-Core)Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 8MB L2 Cache 64-bit they both cost the same and i dont plan on trying to OC the cpu any time soon unless i need to later on down the road.I want to try and futureproof my pc as much as i can with out going over my buget. also is the motherboard i selected a good one? the only other higher one available is: (QX9650 Supports) Asus Maximus Formula Intel X38 Chipset CrossFire FSB1600 DDR2/1066Mhz Mainboard w/GbLAN, USB2.0,IEEE1394,&7.1Audio which is $34 more. when i do want to OC my cpu or gpu will i be able to with one of these boards? |

Q6600 vs E6850 question has already been asked in this thread
How good is a stock Q6600 with PCSX2? I'm sure you know Pcsx2 is gonna benefit immediately from an OC If you've never OC before probably stick with Air cooling its simpler than water. Water cooling: generally cooler than Air, more expensive, quieter, more complicated to setup, may require making holes in your tower to allow tubes that feed the water in and out to the water pump mechanism outside your tower(some are internal through the 5.25 drive bay. Air: good heatsinks allow for high overclocks, cheaper then water, fans mean its louder, huge heat sinks mean you have to make sure your tower can accomidate it, simpler than water, weight of heatsink can strain motherboard somewhat.
