Geforce 8600GT PCIe X16 slot (Max X4 mode)?

Anyone know if that card work on a board with a PCIe X16 slot running at max speed x4 mode.

It should be backwards compatible, so yes it should work.

hes probably planning on using one of the asrock boards that only has a 4x pci-e slot.

Im not sure, but ive heard the 8x series have some problems with pci-e 4x only boards....

are PCI-Express v1.0a compatible with PCI-Express 2.0 or maybe even v3.0?

As far as I know, PCI-E v1 video cards should work with PCI-E v2. The reverse would also be true.
