removing LCD streaks

i cleaned of my LCD screen with these anti-static cleaning wipes and that are slightly damn with isopropyl alcohol and it has left some streaks on the LCD that i cant seem to get out now. i cant see the streaks when the monitor is on but when its off, you can see them at a certain angle due to the black background.

can you get rid of these and what should i use to do it with? ive heard about using eyeglass cleaning solution and microfiber cloths but i need something that will remove the streaks. it must have something to do with the entire LCD drying at different times, as the entire thing is dry now but the streaks are still there, some lighter than others and vis vera. is it possible to get them out even though they are dry now or is it ****ed up for good?

The best solution is water and liquid soap. DON'T USE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL ANYMORE!!!!

There's cleaning stuff made specifically for LCD screens, check it out. Here it's called SafeClean, but a quick Google makes me believe it's just available in the Netherlands, and not in the US, but you might want to look it up yourself.

At this stage, you are best off using water (no soap) and a lint free cloth. Use minimal water. Right after you wipe it with the damp cloth, use a dry cloth to dry the water streaks. Repeat the process until the streaks are gone.

Next time, use slightly warm water to remove marks off your LCD. It takes longer but anything else will leave streaks.

Soap ? I thought the solvents in the soap are a big no-no for LCD screens... it's all right for CRT, but not LCDs I think. If microfiber doesn't get rid of the streaks, sometimes I use something a bit rougher, like plain old paper towel. Worked for me on my laptop screen once and now it looks brand new again .

i swiped some eyeglass cleaner from my neighbor and it seems to have done the trick.

i dont know about that paper towel thing though, i found this a little while ago:

"First, you must realize LCD screens or displays are NOT GLASS. Many owners clean a laptop screen or LCD TV as they would clean any glass monitor or TV - DON'T make this mistake. An LCD (liquid crystal display) consists of a soft film that is very prone to damage from scratches, smudging, and clouding caused by the use of improper cleaning agents
and harsh cloths."

Once we see this dust clouding up our once perfectly crisp clear LCD screens, we automatically reach for something to
remove the dust or smears. This is where many people make a huge mistake, they take ordinary tap-water and a paper towel or dish cloth and clean their LCD screen. DON'T! Ordinary tap water often include chemicals like chloride that will leave a residue on your screen. Coarse paper towels or cloths may even scratch and damage your very sensitive LCD
display, causing clouding and can even lead to dead pixels.

Distilled water here . I know about the paper towel thing, but I still use it if something won't come off using a microfiber cloth. And I'll have to check on that eyeglass cleaner stuff, I have plenty of that stuff .

Hahaha.. judging by jonc2006's quote, distilled water is the only way to go. I thought eyeglass cleaner is the same as isopropyl alcohol? Anyway, jonc - hope your screen has cleared up.
