Hello, my 200+ GB HD is starting to get a bit stuffy, but I don't feel like burning every last bit. But I don't want to delete them either. Yeah its one of those strange feelings that makes you not wanna burn discs. HDs are easy and convenient especially the 1TB ones. But I also fear that they may break down when you least expect it.
So is there a technology that you can use an internal harddrive, attach it to some converter (which I don't know whats it called, never seen it) and then attach that converter to the USB, and then you can start backing up. Besides, 1 terabyte equates to over 200 DVDs. I guess its better to by the HD in this case though, you get high speed access and removable data. I also have all my IDE cables used up already and I don't want to go through the trouble of re-wiring the computer's inwards. Maybe I am expecting to much from the 21st century? |

It exists. With limitations
If I remember correctly, its used mostly by photographers for safaris. Dont be expecting miracles though, the number of filetypes it can skim through is usually very limited. Anything more efficient, would require prealable indexing of all HD content, before backups can be even started. Seriously, if backup is a hassle, you can just use Acronis True Image, with a first full backup [at max compression, will save space but not time], then only incremental backups. Using a Universal version will be even better in case you wish to deploy a working OS to another computer without any unwanted issues........
