10 to 15 fps?

I know with my 7800GS I didn't see an increase that big with a way larger overclock than that one, on stock cooling even.

Or maybe that article is bullcrap. There are many people who visit this forum with more overclocking/modding experience than the guy who wrote that article. Just because it's on 'teh intarweb' doesn't mean you should take its word without thinking.

Not many gpu have passive cooling... But my x1900 gt rev.2 isn't even stable at 573MHz and heat was not the problem.

The 7800GS is known for being a fabulous overclocker. There's people who went over 515mhz on the core, and 1500mHz on memory.

That's a whoopin' 37% and 25% for ya. If I'd try that on my new card it can be used as charcoal during the next BBQ season.

Personally I think a low end card isn't even worth OCing, unless you're talking about a relatively good one like the DDR3 7300GT. Sure it's nice for kicks, but once you start hardware modding the card because you're dead serious about performance, you've lost it imo. These cards weren't meant for gaming in the first place, just for displaying spreadsheets and word documents.

This is assuming your case has good airflow and you dont have a fan already. I have a fan and get 60°c all the time so this dosent help at all.
