trouble with laptop mouse
for some time i have been having an annoying problem with my laptop's touchpad. every now and then, it will begin to act up by sometimes doing sporatic double-clicking or single-clicking, causing me to open links and such either in a program or on the net when im just moving the pointer around and not even intending to to open anything. when this occurs, if i go in the properties menu for the mouse in my systems "printers and other hardware" menu, its labled as "standard pointing device" or something close to that, which from what im assuming is not what it is supposed to be saying as when its not acting up, its labled "synaptics touchpad v6.2 on ps/2 port".
i can temporarly fix issue this by going to its device settings under its properties menu and clicking "reset devices". but its not a permanent fix, i have to go back and do it again every so often which is where my problem with this lies. im not sure what triggers this to happen exactly, like a program or if its just random, but im getting tired of having to reset the damn thing each time it does this. i recently uninstalled some drivers for my dvd/cd drive for a unrelated issue after i did that, the dvd/cd drive was working perfectly,in fact, even better than it was when i first got this pc. is uninstalling the driver for the touchpad what i would want to do if i want to fix this permanently? and is it pretty much safe to do it, like, i wont **** up my pc real bad if i was to do this right? sry if this is a question with an obvious answer but id rather play it safe than risk messing up my pc.

i could but it kinda destroys the freedom i have of carrying around my laptop without any external hardware and such around, it just makes things alot simpler and lessens the chance of me losing important pc parts.

I have a whole bunch of external crap and it doesn't really tie me down because I have a really good Targus laptop bag that holds a bunch of stuff. The only thing that really annoys me and holds me back is my clunky DVD-RW drive. I really suggest getting a usb optical mouse like shafeen said. It really makes everything a whole lot easier. I can't go back to the touchpad, ever. It doesn't allow me to move as freely as I can with a mouse. I even had one of those Targus mini optical mouses with a retractible cord if you're really concerned about not having too much external stuff. I think mine was smaller than the ones they have on the market now. The one that I had was about 2 inches long.
