2 harddrives on notebook

i am using a hp pavillion zv6001 laptop and im down to about 1.8 GB out of 80GB. is it possible to buy a second harddrive and have them both in the laptop or can a pc only hold one at a time? and if its possible, does it matter what brand harddrive or should i get one specifically designed for my laptop?

i dont want to use an external harddrive due to me using a laptop instead of a desktop, i kinda need everything on one thing so i dont have to carry around tons of stuff. what about RAM as well? could i replace my 512mb RAM with a 1GB one or am i stuck with what i have? and last, is this simple enough to do on my own or is it better to have a tech do it for me?

All Laptop hard drives are in 2.5 in form. I don't think laptop are designed to store 2 hard drives...it not a pc Just buy one big hd like 120 gb and up if you want more space. Btw, laptops are not designed for your daily use (mostly for college students, gamers with high-end components, and business people...) that why we have pc which can do almost anything.

As for memory, yes can you upgrade it but make sure you know what type of memory you have. It really not that hard to replace the component parts in the laptop. The same method applied when upgrading a pc so there you have it no tech is needed (waste of money).

There are three ways to get more space.

1) Remove the old hard drive and insert a new one in.
2) Attach an external hard drive.
3) If your laptop has a PCIMA slot, you can insert a hard drive in there.

You maybe looking for option 3.

I've seen no mention online of that model accepting a 2nd hard drive.

It's the bottom-left slot (which is now termed a PC Card slot, formerly called a PCMCIA card slot). Other slot above it is an ExpressCard slot.

I also have a 2 harddrives question on a PC instead of a notebook. I am having problem starting up my computer (continous restarts @ Windows XP Logo load step) The difference between the two harddrives is that one spins at 7200RPM and the other one at 5400RPM. This problem occurs when I set my 7200RPM HD as primary and the 5400RPM as secondary. However when switched vise-versa, theres no problem. Im wondering if the conflict occurs because of the HD spinning or what?

Your problem could be one of these cause: viruses, spyware/malware, drivers/registry conflict, possibly bad ram, misconfiguration in the bios or setup, and last make sure all of the cable and wires and tighten.

First scan your pc with a trusted Anti-virus software, I'd recommend Trend Micro Pc cillin internet security 2007 for a virus scanner. For spyware, try Spyware Doctor 4.0 and for registry problems, get Registry Mechanic 6.0.

The 2nd hdd with 5400 rmp is a storage drive, right? If so, did you set the setting to slave and master to your 7200 rpm?

I've done all those things, and I'm assuming its either BIOS or the 5400RPM harddrive is faulty.

so your saying i could add a harddrive designed for that type of slot, right? also, is that the same type of slot i would add a card that would allow my computer to have tv on it? do you think i could find these things at a local staples?
