Removing stock Intel 775 HSF?
I'm about to order some AS5 for my video card(replacing noisy crap stock fan with Zalman VGA cooler) and CPU, but since I'm a bit unfamiliar with Socket 775 HSF's I was wondering how exactly to remove this clunker. To install it you basically just have to push down on one side firmly then the same with the other, but how do I get it off?
I've read in places I have to remove the entire damn mobo, and in some others it says I just have to pry it loose? Can anyone give me a definite answer, I don't want to screw up my hardware. ![]() P.S. - Using regular rubbing alcohol to get rid of old thermal paste/pad gunk is safe too right? I remember using that back in the day with my Celeron Northwood.
