That's what I though about this.
People just like to think they could get this. Although most of the time is out of their reach for now.

this forum is dedicated to hardware discussion. It is interesting when somebody takes the time to make a post about how how someone else's post is a complete waste of time. Seems somewhat ironic. We are humans - we all want something we can't have. for instance that computer. In 3 months I'll want something different. If I get this computer I would be unhappy with it within a month because another faster processor has come out.

Well, I read about a guy who won a couple of 100000 dollars and spent most of it buying a computer with everything... one year later the computer was already starting to get old, and now it'd be considered ancient.
Moral of the story: No point in dreaming about computers they get old too quickly. I always think like this instead! It's so good I didn't pay a lot to pay that much for a top of the line computer... I'd be so sad when the new uber graphics card was out... or the new uber processor and I realised the price of the parts to my comp dropped by thousands of dollars.

I remember seeing a friend of mine play C&C Red Alert when it just came out and thought to myself 'damn, if only I had a computer good enough to play that....'
Just be happy with what you have, unless you have enough money to not be happy with what you have

Computer hardware gets old too fast to be worth dreaming about.
Try women instead.

lol player-x. Wow you wonder where the times have gone. Very nicely put by the way - if only the manufacturer's of those hard drives could see how much technology has improved. seriously though that is ridiculous. i wonder what kinda rpm that thing had or transfer rate.

Hardware changes to fast. It's not worth blowing a hole in your pocket (in my opinion) just to be the center of attention for a short amount of time. Considerably cheaper hardware can run many of the games well. The only reason I see to invest a lot of money in something like a GPU would be the switch from DX9 to DX10...other than that, I'm fine with a "better than mainstream" card.
Just look at how obsolete my system is...yet I still crank out around 40 FPS in Oblivion outdoors on medium quality at 1280x1024 with a few other settings tweaked.
