Power supply for external HD fuse?

My power supply fuse for external HD is broke. I want to know what Ampere is the fuse? I want to replace it, unfortunately I can't see the details of the fuse. Typically, what's fuse did it use?

Usually, if you look at one of the metal tips, the ampherage rating will be written on one end of the fuse. Should be a number like 15, 20, etc.. If by any chance it doesn't, post the model of your HDD in here and I'll find it's power rating for you.

Ok, here it is:
AC-DC Adaptor
Model: YH-3018
Input: 100-240VAC,50/60Hz,2A
Output: 12V ---2A 5V---2A.

Is it 2A fuse?

I'm guessing its a fuse with this rating:
2XXvolts
Around 5amps...

The fuse can't be 2A cause thats the OUTPUT amperes... Fuses are normally used for the input to protect the device from excessive electrical energy. Try going to Radio Shack or The Source and ask the employees.

its safe 2 use a 0.5ampere rating fuse for small supplies like this.

1st replace the fuse and plug ur supply to the mains f ur supply fuse do not blow up again its safe 2 assume that ur supply is good but its best to test it just 2 be in the safe side.at this stage do not connect any drive 2 ur supply.

2nd check diagram at the back of ur supply the location of the 12volts, 5volts and ground pins.check the pix, sry 4 d blury pix

3rd u need a multimeter set it to 20volts or 50volts and clip the black testing lead to the ground pins and the red testing lead to the 5v, u should get a reading of around 5v, do the same with the 12v, f all is fine then ur power supply is fine and ready for use.its easier to check the power supply directly on the pcb but f ur not familiar with it this is fine.hope these helps.

I just crack it open at the line side of the supply and then tape it to close it back.

Hey cyclonmaster, I am using the same power supply for my external DVD RW drive for my laptop. When I switch on the power supply, the green LED on the YH-3018 is bright, there is a constant buzzing sound near the power cord in the adapter, the DVD drive works for a minute or so and then it blanks off and it seems there is no power supply to the drive. What could be the problem and the possible solution ?

Please help !

Hi guys,

Can anyone please tell me where I can view the circuit diagram of the YH-3018-3 SMPS?

I particularly want the values of R1 (0.22 Ohm or 0.33 Ohm) and also C4

Rgds
