best home theater 5.1 system?

hey guys what 5.1 home theater system would be best in the price range of 200-300$?

i have a Pioneer setup, i like it.

i'd say stay away from Sony or any brand that you don't recognize. stay away from "all in one" solutions--the ones that come with a CD player. for under $300, get one of those receiver + speaker packages, and add your own DVD player (don't forget a digital cable to get that 5.1!)

I will be hooking the reciever and speakers to my phillips dvp-642 divx dvd player,hopefully some of the places we checkout will have plentyof different ones setup so i can check them out first.

ok good, then you're set. just remember to get a digital cable, probably a coaxial cable. don't worry about the quality of a digital cable. digital is bit for bit, it's not like analog. i bought a $5 cable off somewhere i found on Froogle and it works perfectly. don't be fooled into getting a $30 coaxial digital cable.
