Geforce 6200 128 or 6200 256???

Now I'm not much into computer gaming at all...I'm just looking for a card that will let me play PSX games with the cartoon shader and stuff...thast about it. Now I have seen that the Geforce 6200 128 has pixel shader 2.0 and the Geforece 6200 256 has 1.5 pixel shader? what do I need and what is better? I was also looking at the Radeon 9800pro but the Geforce 6200 128 is like $40 so I dont think I can go wrong.

What would do me good for PSX emulation with good pixel shader support?

Thanks.

Dude....go for a 6600GT. Trust me. You won't need to upgrade again for quite awhile.

Dont buy the 6600Gt thats costly
Instead get the 7300GT thats cheaper as well as better in performance than the 6600GT
If you cant buy these then get a 6200 128 with 2.0PS
but its recommended that you get a card with PS of 3.0

What is your price range? The 6 series is starting to get out of date.

No, it has pixel shader 2.0 material support.

Bandwidth is also very severely limited with 6200. 6600 has more than triple that.

The GeForce 6 Series (codenamed NV40) is NVIDIA's sixth generation of GeForce graphics chipsets. All of them support Vertex and Pixel shader version 3.0, as required under the Microsoft DirectX 9.0c specification.

Ooops, confused that with material openGL support.

For bandwidth, 6200 still remains restricted.

It does. Check the specs for the Geforces, if considering an upgrade.

In that case I think an old Geforce4 4200 would be more than enough for you.

I think he wants a Geforce with good pixel shader support.
Get a Geforce 6 series card.
you didn't state if you're using AGP or PCI xpress.
I guess you're using AGP.
So maybe this card is good for you.
Geforce 6600 PS 3.0, 8 Pixel Pipelines.

edit:Ordered a Geforce 6600 256 AGP

6600GT costly? Wow....by what standards?

Did a search on newegg. Average price for 6200 was around $60-$80. 6600GT's started at $100.00. NOT that big of a price difference.

I would have understood your reaction if I recommended the vid card I have, the 7600GT, which starts at about $160. But as it is, unless you are REALLY poor, the price difference between the 6200 and the 6600GT is negligible, especially when you consider the massive performance difference between the two.

I did a search a 6600GT card is still over $180 in Canadian dollars.
