DVD Combo Drive ( Top Drive ) Problem

I notice every now and then, when i have my computer on for a long time, my dvd combo drive wont work.

I go put in a disc and nothing loads up, its like its not even there. I have to restart my computer many times, just to get it back to normal.

Does this happen to you sometimes and if so, what you do you think is the case?

I was thinking it may be do some of the programs which i run from time to time.

I had a similar problem with a DVD/CD Combo Burner. The drive and any disc I burned with it would cause the system to lock up. A firmware upgrade seemed to fix this.
