2.6GHz operating speed - 1MB L2 cache

Right now it's going for just under £800 @ Overclockers.co.uk. Looks sweet and is now an official member of my "dream PC list" along two BFG 7800 GTX 512mbs.

Lol .Actually i got 2.670.000 results.
The AMD vs Intel discussion is neverending.
Which cpu do you think it's better for emus (i.e. pcsx2) ?
Do these new technologies... Hyper Threading , 64 bit , Dual Core ...do they help or there's no difference if the emu is not optimised for them?

Well I can't speak for emus but I think someone asked a similar question and CKEmu said responded. I think he said something like it would make a 2 or 3 FPS difference...do NOT quote me on this however because I have no idea. Try using the search feature here on the forums.

That processor does look awesome. It makes me wonder why Sony / Microsoft had their processors for their next-gen systems created with IBM. I would've went with AMD.

Yes, CK did make a response... but he was talking about graphics cards, not processors. It would be hard to predict how much this would help things.

Well as itll stand with PCSX2 0.9

Hyperthreading = will more likely cause a performance loss, more than anything, it is using virtual cores on a single physical core, so each thread loses some performance, so on single threaded programs, like PCSX2 you lose speed ;p Videos might be a bit more normal speed.

Dual Core = Will act pretty simular to a Single core, altho during videos at least (if they work) you will get a bit of a speed boost.

64bit = This should help, lots of ps2 ops use 64bit registers, plus it can write to 128bit float registers, unfortunately 32bit only did 96bit float maximum, 64bit will do the 128. Also any 32bit code is slightly faster in execution.

thats my view on it anyway

So the execution of these 128 bit floating registers will that help the speed or accuracy of PCSX2?
Does 0.9 version support this facility or does it need to be a separate version, optimised for 64 bit cpu's ?
