Reliable ways to detect hardware problems, motherboard in particular

Hello guys,
What are some reliable ways to detect/pinpoint hardware problems? I've recently purchased a used motherboard off eBay that is used with the rest of my system detailed in sig. There have been sporadic but continual occurence of BSODs. I've been swapping things in and out but I'm pretty sure it is the mobo at this point. Are there any sort of diagnostic programs I can run for the mobos and video cards like memtest86 for RAMs? Perhaps something in the Linux world? Thank you.

Hmm... Nothing that will pinpoint which is having the problem, just stuff to say that there is a problem (which you already know). Best I can say is swap hardware back and forth with your sig (which I assume had no similar problems), then run something really intense for however long it takes for you to be satisfied that there is or is not a problem with the current hardware.
