A portable dvd player and a lot of time...

Okay, im not too sure if this question should go here if not please move it lol. Well anyways I have a Intial DVD player 5in screen that has been given to me which I have no use for. It is in working condition but looks as if someone took a knife and carved all over it. Instead of tryying my luck on Ebay with it I have decdied I want to mod it into a PC case. Just for the record I have no experiance in this what so ever. Could some of you help me find a starting point for this project?
