Is power getting to the board(fans spinning, etc..)? Worse case you werent grounded and made yourself a square frisbee, best case something isnt plugged in, go back and make sure you have everything in the proper place. If that doesnt work try booting your comp with things disconnected like drives and stuff and work reverse.

just to clarify, does your motherboard support AthlonXP processors? Or did you replace the motherboard entirely. When i went from thunderbird --> AthlonXP I had to replace my motherboard (about time too...)

I had the same thing happen to one of my old computers (the motherboard in my case was crap anyway), and it turned out being a dead motherboard. I'm guessing putting in the new processor was too much for it and it killed it, which is why it won't accept the original. You mention the motherboard supporting up to an 1800+ Athlon XP, right? Putting in the 2000+Athlon XP probably killed the motherboard.

before you declaire the motherboard officially dead, altho it looks like it, try resetting your CMOS by using the shorter jumper, leaving it for about a minute and trying again, if that doesnt work, try taking the board out of the case cos it might be shorting out on it, if it still doesnt work sitting on a table or anything, put it back in its box and throw it in the bin
