yes as far as 3dmark goes, the cpu is quite important. peopel are getting over 10k with a gts and a conroe. Hell with a slight overclock they are getting more than i do with my gtx @ stock (score in sig). I'm quite happy that my card is still a decent amount faster with all the goodies turned on though

3DMark06 tested under Windows Vista x64 and Windows XP Pro x64 Base on the score both seems to be even, I did reached 5584 on Vista before. For some reason on Windows XP Pro x64, when i use ATI Tool 0.27beta I get about around 100 points lower than RivaTuner v2.0 Final and both program had the same overclock setting (567 core 774 memory) but RivaTuner gave me about 100 pts more...

tuanming ur gpu is holding u wayy back, while i was waiting on the RMA of my e6600 cpu I had an HT 3.0 ghz proc which was giving me total points of 5k exactly on 3dmark06 but once i got the e6600 on stock speed installed then i had 10500 +- points.

I could get 11-12k if i overclock this cpu but im waiting for my scythe infinity to replace the arctic alpine 7

(In attachment)
AM3 = 134,266
3DMark06 = 6238

waiting for a waterblock so i can push my X1900GT even more. or maybe i should save up for an HD2900XTX
btw tuanming, thats a decent OC for a rev.2 X1900GT. What cooling are u using?

Been a while since I've posted a benchmark result here Came across another 7900GS cheap so now I'm running SLI will post up some other scores as the come

Having some problems with the Aquamark3 Benchmark it gives the same result with SLI enabled as it does with it disabled

Looks like its time to ditch it since its pretty old anyway

SLI 3DMark06 Score = 6402
SLI 3DMark05 Score = 9847
CS:S VST = 119.41 FPS

Lol.... wow, u only beat my SINGLE X1900GT in 3dmark06 by 200 points :/
wow.... U're CPU is a HUGE bottleneck. On my sisters comp:
AMD Athlon 4200+
eVga 7600GS SLi
1GB PC2-5300 ram

her aquamark was very similar with and without SLI. But when SLI was on and her CPU was overclocked to 2.6GHz, her score went up by at least 10,000. So yea, ure CPU is a major bottleneck.

Yea I get like 11700 in 3DMark05 with setup in sign which has only a single 7900GTO so those scores are really low or then you're running it with a Pentium 4 / D or similiar.

How about some real world emulation results. Try resident evil 4 or tekken 4, which are supposedly gpu limited.

only prob is i don't own the PS2 version of RE4 anymore.. sold it when i got the PC one, cause I figured it would be useless to have it for 2 consoles. If I can lend it from my friend, I will try to get some benches.

okay done a new 3dmark06 bench, since the last one was when i was on my 2.8Ghz opty

New config:
Core 2 Duo @ 3.04ghz (380x8) (had to, 385+ seems to drop my PCIE link to 1x )
2Gb DDR2-800 @ 950mhz 4-4-4-12
Asus P5B-Deluxe mobo
SB Audigy 4 OEM
rest unimportant.

must say, 2000 point boost is quite impressive

Yes.. 3dmark06 is entirely vertex setup fetch limited in all but one of the game tests. Plus the CPU score mod so a fast CPU makes all the difference in this bench. ((3dmark05 has the exact same problem)). Unfortunately when designing 3dmark06 they didnt fix any of the real problems with the default benches.

Hopefully with the Geometry shader and DX10. Some of these CPU geometry setup issues can be alleviated. The CPU seriously shouldnt be too involved with 3D performance in the fashion it is with 3dmark06.

indeed, the cpu test is rediculously slow, its not even that intensive from what i can see. but everything else seems to run right, n i have to thank it tho for helping me discover my problem i had with my overclock

My cheap PC -_- benchies

AMD Athlon64 X2 4000+ Dual Core @ 2.11Ghz (stock)
ECS Nforce4 based Motherboard
2GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR2 667 Ram
Inno3D iChill GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 (XStriker3 Cooler, factory overclocked)

my monior is so old so only 1024x768 benchies lol

btw, manage to overclock the card beyond 8600GTS speeds and is quite "stable" after playing some Crysis sessions, but i stick at the default clocks for now (which is already overclocked) i might stress the shader clock (i think some folks card dies cause of the shader clock overclock) and i think the GTS requires an extra pci-e power connector so ill try not to go beyond much. Temps are mostly ~50-53C idle and ~60-63C load (overclocked to beyond GTS)

Okay so just tried overclocking , here are some of the results:

AMD Athlon64 X2 4000+ @ 2.4Ghz Brisbane (2.1Ghz default)

Inno3D iChill Series GeForce 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 (XStriker3 cooling)
from the regular/default 540/1180/700(1400), to factory overclock of 620/1250/900(1800) to more overclock of 700/1500/1050(2100)
I think i can go higher from the core though...btw is there any chance my card is volt modded or sumthin? how do you check it?

3Dmark 2005 Default

3DMark 2006 (Since i can't go beyond the standard 1280x1024 because of an ancient CRT monitor, i just added 2X AA and 2X AF at 1024x768 to compensate, not sure if its accurate though hehe...)

GPU Temps at overclock

Nice one. I bet that Q6600 added in a lot.
Here's mine with a 9600GT with CPU at 3.6GHz and again... with a 8800GTS G92 with CPU at 4.3GHz.

P.S.: The rest of the screen was cut to reduce the image size.
