Yeah yeah, I know. But I won't be the one weeping once my precioussssss's come out . I scored 4600-4700 in 3dMark05 and about 1200-1500 in 06 on my laptop. Just shows how much pain I'm causing my Conroe at the moment by pairing it up with my friends first used PCI-E card...

your x700 kills it that much??? wow. that's a large difference. Anyways that's strange that your score is only 1200-1500 on your laptop. Are those both stock scores (no OC'ing video card?) cause my laptop gets 4700 oc'd in 3dmark05 while it gets about 2000 in 06. I guess I DO have Core 2 and not just core duo...

The Core 2 Duo (Merom) performs quite a bit better then the Core Duo (Yonah). I can see you scoring higher then me. The point difference sounds about right, Merom performs almost 10% better then Yonah.

And yes, x700 does indeed suck. I mean, it barely, and I stress barely, any performance gain over the ATI 9800. I'm serious . The R600's were supposed to be released this week...but instead, they're delayed at least until the next month .

That was actually what i was referring to - our 3dmark05 scores are the same? I OC my vid card w/ merom in and get about 4700. i read notebookreview and apparently with core duo stock is normally about 3800

Yeah, I did OC the GPU quite a bit for the 05 mark. I never touched the CPU though, and I never will. Not such a good idea to mess with it .

Im gonna go do some 3dmarking because I am bored.. lol .. before and after overclocking Ill be back.

Alright .. after 4 test these are my results.. 1400 X 900 widescreen for all.
Well i saved them but i cant open them for some reason. Maybe i didnt save em right. And i dont feel like going through a half hour of testing again. These are guesses at what they were.. should be close.
1400x900 4xAA 4xAF 2500
1400x900 0xAA 4xAF 3500
1400x900 4xAA 4xAF 3100 overclocked*
1400x900 0xAA 4xAD 6517 overclocked*

I don't usually play games at that res, rather 1280x780 or whatever. But the bottom score after overclocking impressed me. During that test, when i was
in the "wings of fury game test", I was getting 100-600fps at points LoL.

Well got my nice new GeForce 8800GTX 768MB today, my old GPU (the 7600GT) scored 3133 marks in 3Dmark06...some improvement huh, my RAM sadly is crap and I need some non-stock cooling to OC my CPU abit to push my score up nicely..

Just added my 3Dmark03 score for laughs

A programmer at nvnews.net released a simple GPU benchmarking performance tool.

"Forum member tertsi has announced the initial public beta release of gpudip. gpudip measures the number of low-level instructions, floating-point operations, texture samples and color pixels a GPU can execute.
Tasks that are executed include blending, sharpening, blurring and edge detection, which are common in applications list Photoshop, Gimp, and also some games." - nvnews.net

"gpudip (based on gpuinstr) measures how many low-level instructions, floating-point operations, texture samples and color pixels a graphics processor can execute in digital image processing or gpgpu tasks such as blending, sharpen, blur and edge detect." -author

You can download the tool from this thread:

Alrighty after fiddling around with overclocking my CPU i've finally found a setting that i will keep. It's not the fastest possible but according to some Guides i've read and my experience so far this seems to be very stable, while running very cool and my CPU Fan makes no noise at all. Seriously i have an External USB Drive which is also very silent and beats that Fan by far.
Long Story short check out my Results . I'm very satisfied

The best I could do on 3DMark05 was 3303 3D Marks and a CPU score of 3539. And that's with my cpu and video card oc'd.

Left everything the way it was. I'll make a new run with all tests enabled.

Edit:
Here's the results from the second run with all Tests included... looks like i made 100 points extra

Edit 2:
Now I've also included my CPUMark 2.1 Shots

Those score seem to be pretty low. Especially with that overclock and video card.

Here's mine. Full information at Futuremark - ORB - Result Analyzer .

You should take into calculation that i had to buy that damn RAM cause there really was no other available. It's a Seitec (no name crap) 1024 200pin 5-6-6-18 (s***s a*s badly i know). But my next buy will be this and this

No your rams are okay. I mean your CPU score beat me by 300 points in the cpu test, which say alot.

For a real satisfaction feeling with your system, check out this thread. The Official Benchmark and Comparison Thread!

Lol that guy bought a cpu that cost as much as our ds3+e4300 combined, overclocked to 3.2ghz and still can't beat a 150 dollar processor. And if I remember correctly, his CPU temperatures are in the 60c. So sad for him.

I was wondering why your 8800gts score so low. I don't believe it's your CPU that's holding you back. I was thinking about buying one of those 320mb 8800 but it doesn't seem to be such an improvement over my 7900gs. I guess I'll wait for the 8600 series.

Alright alright. I've overclocked my 8800GTS and did some stresstesting along with a new 3DMark Benchmark.

Basing that opinion on a 3dmark score is naive. A 8800gts 320 meg will clobber your 7900gs in any modern game with higher AF/AA levels.

Mine @ 3.6Ghz . Had to blow some cooler air outside into my case to keep temps reasonable (27-29 celsius ambient temps in my computer room ).

Ignore the GPU scores btw .

Yes that's true, 3dmark06 means little to real world gaming performance.

My previous 7600gt got 1000-2000 points less than my current 7900gs, but real world gaming saw very little increase with the 7900gs. Probably 20 percent gain.

But, there's no denying the fact that a 8000 points on the 8800gts compared to my 5000points 7900gs is not a very significant increase. As I've personally seen with the case of my 7600gt to 7900gs upgrade.

10000 to 5000 is a different matter however.

Btw, what are you 8800gtx benchmarks?

3dmark 06's total score is a bit missleading if you're trying to compare GPU's. It gives a ton of points for the CPU score. Also, try benching with higher resolutions + AA/AF and his 8800gts will really start to show it's prowess over your 7900gs.

I find that 3dmark 05 is actually a better benchmark if you're looking for GPU performance as it's score is more from the GPU.

I've gotten about 9000+ pts in 3dmark 06 and about 14000+ pts in 05. But nothing beats playing Oblivion at 1920x1080 16xCSAA/16xAF all sliders max and HDR enabled.
