Well I just tried aquamark again for the first time in a while. Its clear to me that this benchmark is pretty worthless these days when I only lose 3 FPS from running 8xSAA/16xAF HQ. Verses No AA/No AF High Performance. With 3dmark05 being so vertex setup limited you really gotta bench anything but 3dmark06 in AA/AF modes these days :|

This has been the first time I did an OC, and so far I like the results.
My specs are: P4 3.0 Prescott 512 DDR400 3 3 3 8 Sparkle Geforce 7800GS AGP, 4 less pixel pipes and halve the ROP's of the GT. Hiper Type-R HPU-4K580 580Watt (thnx for the recommendation Ref and industrian I've got two pictures attached, one with the results for 3dmark 05, in which I've got a score of 6356. The other one shows how the OC results compare to the stock settings. I also managed to get my P4 up to 3.3 gHz. However, I'm curious about why exactly I got less points when I upped my GPU speed from 481 / 774 to 507/788. I got 50 points less ![]() Same goes for my P4, at one point I got a difference of 300 points in a CPU test, while both were done with the CPU at 3.3 gHz. I must say that personally I think this GS OC's really well, from 375/600 to 507/788 without any mods whatsoever seems pretty good. Especially seeing how with the stock cooler it still doesn't even go higher than 55C during these tests. My P4 doesn't go any hotter than 64C, not too bad either. Does anyone know how I might be able to push any of these any higher? My P4 crashes when I upped the FSB any further, but with my videocard coolbits didn't allow me to go any higher. I will be getting 1k of CAS 2.0 ram very soon btw ![]() Btw, I am really impressed with the improvement in the Pixel Shading test and the Fill Rate, especially the latter has been a problem because of the card being castrated, at least that's what I picked up during my search for information on the net. Edit: Oh nice, it just allowed me to raise the core to 515, let's see how that will work out tomorrow. I find it really strange the control panel sometimes doesn't allow you to raise it, and other times it does. (you have to press the 'test settings' button which sometimes rejects the new settings)

Ok, I'll begin with my current system, and the 3Dmark results I have gotten. i will be using ORBS for my current settings, so you can be sure I haven't fiddled with images, changing scores and so on.
A thing to add is that my CPU is holding my graficcard back alot. If I were to get all juice out of my card I would need my CPU at roughly 2.5MHz, or an Athlon 64 3500+. My CPU is at 2270MHz atm, so I don't get as much points that others with X1800XT cards does. To begin with, here is my 3Dmark06 score: 4344 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=514506 3Dmark05 results: 9401 - as mentioned, my CPU is holding me back here. I would easily reach 10 000 if I had a slightly more powerful CPU. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2228692 3Dmark03: 16227 - CPU again.. D: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4907659 3Dmark01/SE: 24579 - A thing I must add is that my X800GTO unlocked and clocked to a X850XT PE performance get only about 1000 points less then these results. As I have said, a better CPU = better scores. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9044987 That was my system with an X1800XT 512Mb card. I have been talking alittle about a X800GTO which is unlocked to 16 pixelpipelines. I had it also clocked so it performed at many occasions as a X850XT PE. I have 3Dmark results for it too, but as I have free editions of 3Dmark, I can only have 1 active ORB for each 3Dmark program at a time. Therefor I will post images of the scores. The tests were made with same system I have now, except instead of X1800XT, I used an unlocked X800GTO, and a little weaker PSU. Note that after I flashed my X800GTO with a new BIOS, it were read as a X800PRO, incase you wonder why it says X800PRO instead of X800GTO. Another thing I'd like to say is that my X800GTO had the R423 core, so I didn't expect so good clockings, but 600/600 is GOOD. People with the R480 core couldn't even reach such clockings at occasions. 3Dmark06: Sorry, never finnished it with my X800GTO. The SM3.0 tests took so long so I skipped 3Dmark06. Here is 3Dmark 05, 03 and 01:

Been busy playing around with my new 165, and it's turned out to be quite a blast
. Does 2.8 GHz easy, although I had to bump the Vcore up one notch (other CCBBE/CCB1E's usually do 2.8 without touching voltage). I don't have a problem with that though, it still runs with reasonable temperatures and it's damn fast. I tried for 3 GHz but my Zalman just can't keep up. I'll try again when I get a new heatsink.Also decided to see what my 7800 GTX could handle. I got the memory up to 1.36 GHz, which is pretty good considering they're 1.6ns chips. The core was doing great at 491 (shader/ROP, geometric runs at 500+), but it began artifacting at 500-505 or so. When I backed it off to 491, it was still showing some occasional yellow dots in ATiTool that weren't there previously. I've tried clearing my board's caps and reapplying paste (maxes out at 66 C now ), but it still does it. I'll just leave it at 491 for now, seems to be doing okay aside from that.3DMark 2001: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9060631 3DMark 2003: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4994538 3DMark 2006: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=531622 I guess I forgot to upload my 2005 score to the ORB, but ah well. I tried running PCMark 2005, but Maxthon screws up the webpage test, and for some reason the video encoding part won't load up even though I have Windows Media Encoder installed. I might do a SPECviewperf run later, it takes a while to download. I'll try to remember to run that fr-025 demo later, as well as Cinebench (good multicore CPU bench).

well i just BM my new comp. I didn't OC the GPU by the way (I had nightmares from b4) so i left it at stock. My CPU however was at 3.9GHz (I can reach that speed, but don't keep it like that. the temps are insane - reminds of the "hot potatoe" AKA prescott) Anyways, i got:
gpu = 19773 cpu = 19549 TOTAL = 131,320 (AM3)

How big of a bite did that 8800GTX take out of your wallet though?
