In a challenge up against an Athlon XP 3000+, I came close (about a second difference in the results). My 2 year old P4 is still a force to be reckoned with, but no where near as much as cooliscool's. I wonder how a Pentium Extreme does in this test, anyone have one that can benchmark it? I'm really curious to see how it would do. Or a P4E. SuperPI 1M calculation in 48.313 seconds. @ dukenukem: what are you running? A time of 6 minutes 26 seconds seems quite slow. O.o
Update: that fr-025 demo score is 10214. GPU is definitely my bottleneck (I knew that already, just didn't think it was THAT bad, meh).

I thought it might be the guy from that other forum (the tech talk one). Now I feel even worse for him.

Haven't really benched my new machine much, but I got 47096 pop.stones with my A64 at 2.4GHz and the 6800nu (fully unlocked) at 350/700MHz. (This was with performance settings in the nv control panel I think.)

Well, we all know that the 7800GTX's are quicker than the 6800U's. But just how much quicker? Fortunately, My PC is similar in spec to that of ChrisRay's (except in RAM and GFX, and sound). I got these 2 6800U's about a month or so before the 7800GTX's came out. How annoyed was I :S

PC spec:
AMD Athlon64 3800+ (venice core)
2gb corsair RAM
2 x 6800U's (In SLI, of course)
Enermax noisetaker 600W
2 x 160gb HD's in RAID0
1 x 200gb HD
Windows is on a 40gb HD

I think thats everything importent..
I was considering (and could quite well do) a dual SLI system. Yes, dual SLI. How? you ask me? Well, I have 2 voodoo2's here right now.. but I would forefit my other PCI slots which are in use atm.. Heh

One other thing, that was done at 1024 by 768. Chris, what res did you have it on?

All my benches are done at the default 1024x768. Your score seems a little low. I get 19,300 with dual 6800GTS in this rig. Do you have AA/AF enabled in that benchmark? You should be getting about 20,000.

Running 2 Voodoo2's seem kinda silly to me. The few glide games that may be an issue should work with a glide wrapper and I cant see the benefit of using glide at all these days.

I guess I should update my original posts with my old specifications.

Ah well, after fiddling around at the bios screen for a while.. I noticed the CAS timing was at 2.5 when it should of been at 3 (I should invest in better memory, anyway). Here is the result now.

Um.. highering CAS latency won't make scores better, it if anything, would make them worse.

However, 3DMark 03 is such a GPU whore, your other system details make no difference in your score. You must have done something else.

Seems like a waiste of power to me. They'd be better off on display. Your CAS Latency wouldnt really made much of a difference with the exception of GT1. I have a feeling you had a borked SLI run. Which rarely happens but causes strange performance figures.

20k seems about right for a 6800 Ultra SLI setup.

Hmm, let me try repeating the test with CAS timings of 2.5 and 3. The RAM i have is rated at 3, and I know a lower timing is better than a higher one. But from the way everything has increased in speed in general, I think it was this that was the problem.. Just formatted, so need to d/l 3dmark again. But I'll post here as soon as its done.

EDIT: Ok, weird. Im now getting higher scores just in general. More than likely because I have just formatted. As for the CAS timings.. There seems to be no diffrence afterall.. Maybe your right, chris. As for the voodoo2's.. Im gonna have them in at one point. How leet would a dual sli set up be? Hehe. Ok, so there would be no performace gain, and a single 6800U could do about 200 times better than the 2 cards.. but if PC's were just about performace, Why then do we have coloured case fans, side windows and and that god damn DFI lan party mobo?

the first one is CAS timing of 3, the second, of 2.5. As you can see, almost no diffrence.

Well, I am not a really big PC gamer but I tend to jump to the PC boat during the "console transition" period. My system is in my sig and I managed 50,637 points on Aquamark at its standard test. Also, I got some 98FPS on the CS source stress test.

Benchies with my "new" PC ^_^. Listed in order are...:

3DMark 2001SE
3DMark 2003
3DMark 2005
AquaMark3
PCMark 2004
PCMark 2005
fr-025: the.popular.demo

Using the 78.01 ForceWare drivers from nVidia's site with the graphics optimizations in the control panel disabled. The card overclocks the core automatically to 491 MHz whenever any game is run. I'm not sure why it does that . I'll do some more tests later .

Your core isnt running @ 491 mhz. Thats only the vertex engine. The 7800GTX has seperate clock domains for its rops/shader units/vertex engine. Thats just how rivatuner reports it.

That's odd, I've never heard of any other card doing that. Does the 6 series do it as well? If I were to overclock the card, does it move each frequency up equally?
