the guru3d review has it compared to the 6800ultra as well as the rest of the 6800 family. overall, guru3d seems to be nvidia-biased and even they had to admit that its the fastest card out rite now. btw...i never talk in terms of clock frequency when im talking about speed...thats just stupid >.<.

edit: u can also look to this one http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Njk3LDEx

Quote:
Make no bones about it, the X850XT-PE can easily best the NVIDIA 6800Ultra in many of today’s latest 3D gaming titles, and Catalyst driver maturation is evident in these latest evaluations. And while it does fall a bit behind in DOOM 3, it hardly delivers anything close to what could be described as “bad” performance. Still, at a suggested retail price of US$549, the Radeon X850XT-PE should give you nothing less than the ultimate gaming experience in every gaming title.
EDIT 2: looky, i proved myself to be a dumb@$$ yet again. seems like the x850xt IS gonna come in agp form as well.. http://canadacomputers.com/video.html#gra

Saying is one thing. Actually producing is another. The X850XT/PE is so far vaporware, just like the X800XTPE. One the few occasions that you do find it it's a $150-$200 above MSRP.

By the time ATI gets the X850s out on AGP the R520 will be here.

if you perfer nvidia then go with the Ultra.
If you perfer Ati then go with a X800XT. go with what makes you happy. and not what others want you to have.

All very well saying that, but if you don't know, then you ask.

Gameeve lists a SAPPHIRE RADEON X850 XT PLATINUM 256MB PCI EXPRESS OEM.

As for that Canada Company, Komplett [basically the newegg of the UK] had the X800XTPE listed in MAY. They didn't have any until October, and even the it was just a few pieces that were grossly overpriced [I should know, I was in the market for a X800XTPE, had to settle for a 6800GT in the end]. Listing is not equal having. I'll believe the AGP X850 when I see them in stock at Newegg.

. so lemme ask u...is the x850xt vaporware as u say?

today i just walked down the street in front of U of T and found 5-6 shops (RETAIL SHOPS!!!!) selling the x850xt /PE for nothing like wut u claimed. Even still, the link i of gameeve posted proved that ur statement is wrong. either that or ur basing ur statement on wut happened to the x800xt series which was quite difficult to find. the new x850xt/x800xl iirc are having far better yields, hence they are easily accessible.

Before Quake IV, a new nVidia card will probably be released with 512mb memory. Possibly 6850 or 6900, but people will have to wait and see.

Actually my statement is bang on. Did you skip over the "not going for MSRP" part? Kinda funny if you did considering you quoted it. That card you linked to is 1) OEM and 2) about a $100 overpriced. If it was retail instead of OEM you can bet it'd be another $50-100 more. You do know the difference between OEM and retail right?

And BTW here in Los Angeles, there are no XTPEs. Not at Frys, not a BB, CC, or CompUSA.

Again...vaporware.

wut? just cuz u cant find it in ur area, its vaporware?

no, u said that they wud be $150 - $ 200 above msrp "One the few occasions that you do find it" (on).

Quote:
You do know the difference between OEM and retail right?
Yes i do, but i usually just buy oem myself since i dont find that the retail version offers much more except a bigger hole in my pocket. but lets play it ur way.

First:

MSRP for x850xt PE: $550
MSRP for x850xt: $499

http://www.buyxg.com/store/item.asp?key=VC-141-109 (Retail) EDIT: $40 above retail including shipping
http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts...8TVD3&REFID=PW EDIT: (Retail) $31 above retail, shipping $5.75 but lets round that up to $6. so $37 above msrp

EDIT2: since im such a nice guy and u mentioned komplett http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=305920&cks=PRL (Retail x800xt PE) $600.97 usd...the way i see it its still $50 above msrp

no matter how i look at it, i dont see how the link i originally posted, or the numerous other ones i found thru pricewatch (tho some are oem) are $150-250 above msrp. well, if ur saying that the price for the x850xt PE oems that u can find are $100 (so im short ur little estimate by $50 bucks, sue me) above the msrp for the x850xt non-PE retails, then i think ur statement would be "bang on"

so, which part of that statement was "bang on"? the vaporware part? nope. the "One the few occasions that you do find it it's a $150-$200 above MSRP."? nope.

Wow you've never really tried ordering from these places have you. Hate to break it to you but Xtreme Gear has claimed to have the X800XT in stock before...and they didn't.

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthre...ighlight=buyxg

So ya...I have no faith in buyxg. The people who ordered their 'in stock' X800XTs never got them. In fact buyxg canceled their orders. Go ahead, read the link, it's all there. As did Dell [which was MY ORDER btw], Gateway, Monarch, Gameve, and a host of others I'm sure.

I got nothing on futurepowerpc though, never heard of them and searching on Nvnews and Rage turned up nothing. Who knows, maybe they have, maybe they don't. They won't be the first to say they have a card in stock when they really don't.

As for Komplett, it says March. And even then I've seen them push back those unconfirmed dates.

So again...vaporware. If the item exists it SHOULD pass the Newegg test.

So answer me that, if the X850s are so plentifull why aren't they on the largest online provider of pc components [Newegg].

Edit: Just checked on FuturepowerPC and guess what, they too have recently cancelled orders for video cards that were supposedly in stock. Hell the ENTIRE first page does not have a SINGLE satisfied customer. Do you honestly expect people to believe the information on these sites?

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller5533-p1-s2-d2.html

So great...you posted links "proving me wrong". Too bad those companies have absolutely no credibilty. Like I said, you want to convince me, link to Newegg. Better yet, since you seem so sure of these webcompanies, why don't YOU order from one of them. We can all have a laugh as you get an email saying either a) your order has been pushed back indefintely, b) your order has been cancelled, or c) the item you have ordered has been discontinued. They can run you through the hoop like I ran me until I settled for a GT.

goodness. God forbid they have some bad rep. Newegg has plenty themselves. stuff happens. im sure we can all did into the past and find places that have cancelled orders.

jeez...wuts with this "Newegg test" for things items that "exist". but ill try to play along. Since newegg has such a large supply of customers they mite not wanna start selling cheaply (cuz they do have it http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...131-297&depa=1) until they're sure they can deliver to a large number of ppl.

actually, why wud you be asking me that question? mebe u shud go ask newegg why they're selling it for so much when mom and pop stores along a street in Toronto are selling them for cheaper :P

EDIT: and WHY wud i want to order one? and note: wut i proved u wrong in was that the card itself was vaporware. and i did. or are u still saying that the item "doesnt exist"? needless to say, the numerous oem cards available certainly prove otherwise.

Who said anything about the past. Those stories of cancelled video card orders from futurepc were dated 26th of January 2005. They were also specifically the higher end cards [both Nvidia PCIE and ATI PCIE/AGP].

Newegg tends to get high end cards right as they become available. They were among the first to actually get the 6800GTs back in June.
