Overclocking Help

Well, After buying my new video card, and finally getting it to work (Geforce 5500 fx, 256mb) I decided i want to try overclocking. Can anyone post a guide or something. Im a complete noob wit this, pretty much. I'd also like to know the risks.

Specs:
AMD Athlon 900mhz
Nvidia Geforce 5500 fx 256 mb
576mb of ram.

just download the coolbits registry hack and overclock 2-5 MHz at a time and test it with a benchmark then keep going at that rate until you see graphical anomalies and turn it back until you stop seeing them (OC the core or memory one at a time not both at once) and you're done

benchmark is series of test to see your System performance and to see whether your System works fine or not after doing overclocking, 3D Mark 2001SE, 3D Mark 2003 and 3D Mark 2005 are example of benchmark software.

1.how do i get/use benchmark, and i did the overclocking, and there is a "test these settings" button. Will that do?

2.I tried overclocking. i turning it on, and it started at core:290, Memory:400 and i raised it to core:330, memory:450. Just wondering if theres any problems or anything, just to make sure.

Edit:3. i was reading some other ocing threads and i heard stuff about overheating, wats that about?

Overheating of gfx card gpu/mem due to overclocking is only part of it.
And it's mean the gpu/mem is above safe working temperture.

that's a little much, as for how to test it just run a benchmark and try to find anything that looks wierd (lines "show" stretched pixles and the sord), if you do you've gone too high

Well, I notice you only have a 900MHz cpu...I don't think you'll see to much of a different if you do over clock, since that card is made for 1.5ghz and higer...just to let you know, it's bottlenecked already...

www.futuremark.com <- just download any of these to stress out ur card. i recommend 03 or 05 since these are much more card dependent
