Built new PC (Bootup problems)
I'll start off why the specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (939) RAM: Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR PC3200 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit Mobo: Asus A8V Rev.2 Deluxe (Socket 939) HDD: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 200GB 6B200MO SATA 8MB Cache Case: Antec PlusView 1000AMG Metallic Gray File Server Case PSU: Antec TruePower 430W PSU GFX: Leadtek WinFast GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) When I push the power switch all fans begin to spin and the internal speaker beeps once as soon as I turn it on, but I get no output to the monitor at all. It just stays in standby mode. Anyone know what I may have done wrong? Also what's all this 1.5v/3.3v GFX card all about?

![]() Definately try reseating the video card and try another one. As for the voltage thing.. My Voodoo5 AGP does NOT work in my new motherboard because of the voltage.

Maybe you didn't install the CPU correctly or your power supply is not compatible with your motherboard.
I tried upgrading my old comp and found out the power supply is not p4, had to buy a new one. And don't use non-p4 power supply on p4 motherboards... I went into standby mode and pretty smoke came out

Well I took out the card a few times and tried again, but it still didn't work. fiddled with the vga connector also, but with no luck. I would try with a different card, but I don't know if my other one has the correct voltage and if it doesn't I think it might damage my board. Old one is a Geforce 2mx, nvidia site lists them all as 1.5, but I'm not too sure. If it wasn't the Graphics card I'd at least get an error message on the screen right?

hello!
you dont have to worry about damaging your board with the geforce 2mx the voltage problems where just with very old cards and new boards geforce 2mx cards have the right voltage so that should be no problem. a friend of mine had the same problem a few weeks ago with a new system it turned out that the videocard was ok but the agp slot on the board was somehow broken ,so maybe consider this too if the mx doesnt work too maybe its the board, hope this helps a little. |

Ok, opened it up, put in the Geforce 2mx and still nothing. -_- I have no idea what's going on, cpu is in and heatsink/fan is clipped on ok, but wouldn't the bios still give a message? And I still hear the beep(kinda fast though, but there's no floppy drive) and my HDD and CD drive checking.

Check your motherboards manual, it should have a section telling you what the beep means.

You'd be surprised but it doesn't, it does however have vocal post messages, but I had speakers plugged in and heard nothing. I checked the ASUS website to see if I could get any pointers and found BIOS versions needed for my CPU
Athlon 64 3000+ (rev.D) (Socket939) ALL 1007 Athlon 64 3000+ (CG version) (Socket939) ALL 1009 I'm not sure if this is it since one of the Vocal messages can be "No CPU installed" and surely it would have reported that. My BIOS version seems to be 1008, but I have no idea if my CPU is Rev.D or CG version. =/ I'm going out of my mind. -_- |

Well I rebuilt the comp from start and it works great now. ^^ No problems so far, except I can't get my SATA drive to detect, but I'll fix that when I can be bothered. :P Too busy playing NFS:U2 and all the games I want at max ^^
Thanks for the help all. |

A Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 200GB 6B200MO SATA 8MB Cache the real problem is configuring the Asus controller drivers, since I think I've done it wrong and now have to go about using the proper ones.
