Soundstorm not dead?

Obviously this being the enqurer, a considerable amount of salt is required, but: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19265

get updated, the nforce 4 chips (Athlon 64) will have Soundstorm 2, along with AGP8X OR 1X PCI Express OR SLI PCI Express (2x) (GF6800 SLI)

I was given to understand all the nForce 4 chipsets will use Realtek audio for 5.1/6.1 sound as they deemed the soundstorm too expensive to produce.

oh ****, just looked at some stuff about that, that s*cks.... too bad we can't use the soundstorm audio we already have on our mobo Will have to get a Soundblaster card (since onboard Realtek/normal AC'97 is a ****), ewwwww

All that because they can't pay for the Dolby fees, which would make the Mobo too expensive , damnit, it wasn't that expensive on nforce2, why would it be for the nforce4 ???

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, it would be great but only like if they made a special "nV Audio slot" on motherboards with nforce chipsets , so you can get a soundstorm card, if you upgrade form a nforce 2 to nforce 4 for example, and can't afford the soundstorm 2, you take out your soundstorm 1 and put it in

ok, a PCI soundstorm 2 card would be great too

They said they can't do a PCI version of it as there ain't enough bandwidth..... PCX might change that tho.
