GF FX 5200 64-bit X 128-bit

Ill get a new GFX card, and the money only allows me to get a 5200.
Theres a big diference from the 64 to the 128-bit??

U better get a FX5600, With FX5200 you´ll get a little improvement since you already have a GF4. Otherwise you could get a Radeon 9600...

I dont like ATI cards....
And the 5600 is way to expensive here, at least R$480 reais. The 5200 is around R$270~280.
And remember, 1 U$ Dollar= 3 R$ Reais..... What may seem cheap to u is too damn expensive for us.....

I'm not sure it's worthy upgrading from your MX440 to a FX5200. You should consider saving for a while longer and get a better card.

However, if you decide to go throught with it, beware of cards with a 64-bit bus. There's a huge performance difference to the 128-bit version.

The 64-Bit FX 5200 is marginally faster than a GeForce4 MX 440SE (since the 440SE is also 64-Bit). The 'upgrade' wouldn't provide much difference I'm afraid. If the cards are expensive near you, I'd consider importing from the USA if you can, since it's very cheap, or saving your cash.

The 128-Bit FX 5200 is better than a GeForce4 MX 460 to put it more into perspective. The 128-Bit FX 5200 has double the bandwidth of the 64-Bit version (obviously).

get a better video card tha FX 5200, I have it and I'm telling ya, it's not the best video card. It's more like a bargain video card, so don't expect wonders from it. Get the FX5700. I saw it one ebay for 100 bucks (which is a total bargain) Well it's your money so u decide

I also live in Brazil, and I can tell you this is only an option if you have a friend going to the US that can bring one for you. If you try to order from abroad, Shipping + Taxes will make the price skyrocket.

You shouldnt hate radeon cards...

If I where you I wouldnt buy anything till PCI express video cards come out because all AGP cards will probably drop down in price when that happens... So patience is a virtue in this case.

He can only afford a 5200, so he is gonna get the cash for a new mobo, proc, and PCI-E video card?
But just a Q, why do you hate ATi?

yeah, that's true in another hardware forum there's many people hate ATi very much, most of them spend out their money buying FX5200, I regret last time I choose MX440, better save more money and but Gforce3 ti 200, ah well...it's too late now...but I wonder how many difference in 3dmark2001 between FX5200 and MX440?

Although the FX 5200 has pixel shader 2.0 support it is too slow to utilize it. It does pixel shader 1.1 - 1.3 pretty well, but so does the Radeon 9000/9100/9200 cards.

I would not suggest a GF FX 5200, not even the 128 one. I had one back in the day but I returned it because I did not think that the boost in performance from a GF2MX400(64bit) was worth $100. I got my GF4 4600(128) of ebay for $100, THAT was worth it.

I'd say it isn't a big deal. If you want some nice improvements you should go for a FX5600 or a Radeon 9600 at least.

I suppose you could try an FX5500 if a 5200 is too sucky and a 5600 is too expensive.
