Your first link won't work by design, as the page uses POST data.

did they already get rid of 9600se support?...does the SE mean "Special Edition" or "Second Edition"?

I believe the 9600se was actually slower than the regular 9600 in every which way

Probably means Slow Edition or Sh!t Edition

IIRC it's slower than the pro ones, the XTs are the ones to buy if you want one of the 9600 lineup IMO.

edit: Kirby was right, it's slower than a 9600 and check out this review:

the se... they cut the 9600's 128bit bus to 64bits, it's as slow as a 9200, practically replacing the 9200 in the low end segment, 9200 speeds with dx9 support... just about as worthless as a 5200

the 9600 is an underclocked version of the 9600 pro, and the xt is the overclocked version

the 9600se is going for $90 at newegg
the 9600 is going for $110 at newegg
the 9600pro is going for $140 at newegg
the 9600xt is going for $160 at newegg

All these "SE" cards based on ATI or "XT" on NVidia chipsets make me think that the manufacturers uses every chip (bad or not) to make money. So some companies buy these bad chipsets from ATI or Nvidia and sell them on "Special low budget" cards.
From my experience it could be good or bad since I was allowed to "softmod" my AIW9800SE (4 pipelines/256bits) to a shiny AIW9800PRO (8 pipelines/256bits).....

yea, don't buy a 5600xt, 9600se, 9200, and a 5200 (ultra and non untra) for more than 100 otherwise you are getting scamed, better off with a gf4mx440 (with 128bit bus), around 50 and performs alot better (just don't get the 64bit version... and i'm not talking about vram)

Or... you could just get a 9700pro from newegg. The new Powercolor Evil Commando 2 9700 Pro at newegg sells at $219, and it is built on the 9800pro pcb.

The 9600XT is mainly a 9600pro with a faster fill rate and 100mhz faster core. The rest are just slower.

Not really.... In fact it's almost all ATI board based on the "original" layout from ATI (Powercolor, Spphire,....). I still have my old defunt AIW9700Pro and when I compare with my "moded" AIW9800pro(se), it's the same pcb except the heatsink. And because it's the same board (but not the same chip) I was able to swap the "tiny" HSF from the AIW9800Pro(se) with the one (bigger) from the dead AIW9700Pro...

and the higher fill rate is a result of the higher clock right?

It's what I sayd... I put the HSF from the AIW9700pro on my AIW9800Pro(se) because it was bigger.
