green and blue dots and lines! help!

ok, i've attached an image of the PlayOnline registration, and i was hoping that someone could tell me what the crap is going on with the background. the green and blue and red dots? it may not look like much, but it gets worse... this happened when i was trying to play chrono cross earlier, both from ISO and disc, but i chalked it up to crappy plugin configuration. but now that i am trying to install FFXI and i am seeing the same problem presenting itself... i don't wanna play FFXI like this! umm... i've already reinstalled the latest drivers for my video card (geforce4 ti4200), so other than that, i am at a loss for what to do. can anyone help me? GSDragoon, where you at homie?

Looks to me the kind of problem I was getting on my Voodoo 3 before the RAMDAC died. Have you overclocked it at all?

SSL has to do with internet security. Xp already comes with 128 bit. So it must be a problem on their side. http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1310.shtml Looks like they were having problems with modifying/creating content ID's yesterday. As of right now, they haven't fixed it. Keep checking at the bottom on the offical site for all the updates. http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml They will say when the problem is fixed. I suggest you try again and make sure you use the right CVM number. My brother had problems with that. It's the 3 digit number on the back of your credit card.

As for the distorted picture, I don't know what to say. 53.03's are the newest drivers and work good for me. It almost looks like a hardware problem. Make sure your comp isn't getting too hot. Clean out the dust and make sure all your fans are working.

BTW, FFXI breaks 500,000 users!! http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1303.shtml

If you want, I could buy you a World Pass so you could play on Phoenix too. Just let me know before you actually create your character. I'm going to get Dragoon tomarrow, so i'll have a low lv job to get up if your going to start soon.

Looks like your graphics card memory is on its way out, I get the same if I push my memory to far on an overclock.

yeah, i kinda figured it was something hardware related. can't believe it, i just bought that ti4200! but yeah, GS, can't play until i return that card and buy a new one. by the way, anyone have any (realistic) recommendations? i mean, after all, who on these forums doesn't like talking about video cards?

thanks for the help guys.

Try underclocking the memory temporarily.

What's your budget for a new card?

BTW, they fixed the registration problems. Another patch. http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1315.shtml
