Talking Best Socket 478 AGP mobo that will fit in my HP case

I've heard enough...The PCI 33mhz Bus ultimatly sucks...I'm crossing over to AGP land! Yay

Anyway I wanted to know what's the best mobo that will fit into the case of my HP Pavilion a305w. I know it's gotta be a smaller ATX mobo, because the back only has 4 spaces for I/O devices. Basically that means, 1 AGP slot, and 3 PCI slots is the max. I'm planning on using my current Celeron 2.7 400mhz FSB CPU, along with its cooler master HSF and 256x2 PC2700 DDR SDRAM. This case looks like putting a new mobo in will be easy, the powersupply and all the other parts are great, I just need a mini tower mobo with AGP (8x perfered) and I'll hook everything up and I should be all set! I just wanted to know if you guys knew any good ones, or if you could point me to a site that sells cheap quality mini-tower fit AGP 8x mobos(with support for 333mhz DDR ). Thanks! Here are some pics of the HP Rig just to give you an idea of what I need.

If you want, there is the Asus P4R800-VM (ATI Chipset), with Integrated ATI Radeon 9100 Graphics (Pixel shaders!), Prescott support, Dual Channel memory controller and in a Micro-ATX Form Factor...
All under $100(IIRC, $85 at newegg)..

There is also the Intel i865 Chipset, any motherboards that use this is great to use.

besides, the radeon 9100 isn't anything remarkable. your current card is probably better than it, considering it's also integrated which means shared ram. The intel chipsets are usually the best chipsets for pentium processors.

and also, as yeloazndevil said, decent cases run for 40 bucks, one of those can mean a world's difference when you're using a tiny crapper case.

No, the HP case is pretty sweet, and I'm not willing to shell out $40 for something I dont need

Erm.. he has a GF 4MX.. It has no real Pixel Shaders unlike the R9100(R8500). It would be a benefit if he can get a bit more for less.. also he has 512mb of memory, he can add another stick, go dual channel and get a boost...

But of course this is true:
>>The intel chipsets are usually the best chipsets for pentium processors.

Anyways, just get a whole new computer IMO...
Watch the deals at Dell, They had a deal on a whole P4C computer for 400+...

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I got this less than 2 months ago and all the parts are fine, all I want is to switch the micro ATX mobo with an AGP micro mobo I don't have alot of money to go buying new computers every week

Sorry, bout that liitle misread-Anyways, PCI is hella good isn't it?
About the case, A good one can go along way, Those HPs suck, to keep a 1.5P4 cool they had to put in a CoolerMaster and plastic air tunnel from the CPU to the back of the case. God those things are squished tight!

Just buy the mb with the radeon9100. It should perform better than your gf4mx while you can get money to get an agp videocard, and it has pixel shaders.

Yes they are. My friends Athlon 1.4 in the windows xp freezing thread has that exact type of case, and now we're trying to find a matx mobo that has agp and sdram and ddr support, as well as onboard video. Not havin much luck though.

I didnt have luck either. My problem wasn't the freezing but the games would crash to desktop every 2 minutes. I never found a mb with sd and ddr ram that matched my proccesor and having an agp port. I had to sell my old sdram and buy a new mb and ddr ram and im waiting right now to buy a geforce FX (my girlfriend confiscated my old gf3 )

SiS Chipset, ECS Boards... they have it..
Although stay away from Boards with CNR/AMR... Limits you to 2 PCI slots

Meh if you want a good mobo for an intel CPU then you should only consider the 865/875 chipsets. I don't know whether or not you want one with IGP gfx or not but here are some links that might help you out.

Tom's Hardware Article on IGPs 79.99 Abit microATX w/ 865g (IGP)
For the rest I just suggest you look around newegg or so.
