The 9600 Pro does leaps and bounds over the 5600 and the 5600ultra. A 9600Pro would be a better choice.

yeah but you can get a 5600u cheap. for bang for the buck it's awesome. ive seen the 5600u at $99. i have the 5600 non ultra, it's pretty good and i can safely say the 5600u is worth it.

of course, a 9600pro would probably give you better performance in a lot of games and things, so you might want to spring for that for a few extra bucks.

Yeah, the 5600 Ultra is worth the money. As the 5700 Ultra was released, prices for it come down as you'd expect.

You'll notice the 5600 Ultra's advantages in emulation (Pete's OpenGL2) and also in compatibility with old PC games as well as the card being great for Linux if you use that/considering using it. DX9 performance is lacking, but in DX8.1 (eg. Unreal) it is about as fast as a 9500 Pro or maybe even faster. The AA on an FX card is also really nice quality although it's slow using 6XAA/8XAA!

The 5700 has Ultra Shadow while the 5600 Ultra does not, so in Doom 3 the 5700 will be faster.

I recommend getting a GeForce 5900 since you can get one for only $179 off of www.pricewatch.com
