Question AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and I was wondering what are normal temps for that processor, right now it runs around 35 C and during the summer months around 40-43 C, at what temp does overheating start to happen?

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

what are the load temps?

What voltage are you running at?

IIRc, overheating becomes a problem when you hit above 60 degrees celcius

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

lol.. temps of my 2100 pal hit 62deg.. took of sides.. helped comp stay around 58-60.. and then when i jacked friend's hsf(athlon2500bart) the copper part helped keep my temp around 52-ish with sides stil off

i know its not really on topic.. but 2000 and 2100... close enough, right?

btw... haven't used my comp in like 2-3weeks now...
so not too sure about temps.. but they were around there

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

holy schmoly....forgot that the pallys extended over the 2000+ processors. So yeah, the stepping really matters too.

iEvolutions- are those load temps?

BTW, IMHO its still good to keep load temps below 60 just so the rest of the computer can have some comfortable breathing space.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

You're fine as long as your CPU doesnt start exceeding 60C. I'm usen a really crappy HSF and I mean really crappy. I use it cuz its silent. But keeps my current proccessor at about 49-52C full load. And its not an issue on stability or anything. And thats with it OCed a bit. And Vcore upped.

So you are fine.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

I have a xp2000 and my temps are about 52-55 C idle. 62-63 with load. It's been working for over a year with no stability issues. I replaced the stock fan with a bigger 80mm that spins at around 2900 rpm. The temps got a little higher but atleast my computer doesn't scream anymore

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

Mine used to sit around 60-62, then I put on a thermaltake HSF and it's now around 52 when the HSF is at 50% speed. If I jack up the speed, then it can go down into the 40s but it sounds like a plane taking off.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

Athlon starts laging at 75 Degrees, when this temp reaches to 90. Bye Bye.

Umm... Phoenix, What HSF do you use?

My Volcano 6Cu+ settles my 2000+ at about 48 at night, and goes up to 52 at day(real hot days)...

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

If you are below 75 load and not overclocked then you are fine. When overclocked it is a good idea to stay below 50 Degrees Celcius, and 40 Degrees Celcius when using Vcore voltages above ~25% of the stock Vcore (40 Degrees Celcius is where voltage leakage starts to become an issue - meaning that most of that hefty Vcore isn't even being used).

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

Once again I've found out how shiitty my Dell computer is. Here is how the story goes.

I am the type of person to leave my PC on for 1-2 weeks at a time with no mercy towards my PC hardware's heat build up. But I guess Dell thinks otherwise.

while my sister was using the PC I opened it up to check something and the entire screen went haywire, like when you overclock your video card RAM too high.

Now the horror. I try to restart and shut down and restart and over and over. Tried safe mode, checked settings on the video card. And rage 3d. All fine. Then I kept shutting down and starting up and even the windows XP loading screen was messed up. :ARGH: And now I'm thinking I'll have to do the video card swap. Then finally I touch various parts of the PC: RAM, CPU hsf, harddrive, GFX card. All hot as hell. I left my PC sit for 15 minutes before the CPU sink cooled off. Shows how bad Dell makes they're aluminum heatsinks. I bet they mix it with iron or steel for better heat absorbing, not dicipation. what does this have to do with the thread? Just that if your CPU gets too hot, everything starts to suck.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

I think the dell pcs are designed to have the cooling solution actually integrated into the computer's case so that adequate cooling can be allowed at low sound levels. What I mean is that the case may be designed to only offer adequate cooling when it is closed for purposes of efficient airflow while the fan(s) is at the lowest possible speed. Opening the case may have disrupted the airflow, causing what you described as "the entire screen went haywire, like when you overclock your video card RAM too high."

Personally, I always custom build my pcs because I just want to make sure I have all the quality parts I need. Then again, you can't get much quieter than a dell at the price they sell their comps.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

could someone describe when and what load temps are? and what other kinda temps are there...?

my friend's dad bought a new dell, along with another friend (althoguh i havnt seen inside it); both are the same Dell XX00 case, black, and inside theres a plastic air ?controller? that leads the air above the CPU/fan to the back of the case... good idea, does this even work?? lol...

when my primary machien ran for two days, the air in and around it was so perfectly cool...felt damn good cause it was ~90 in my room...cept around the floor and where the air sucked into the case (felt great on my feet...probably put all the smell of my feet into the case, causing the mobo to die...lol)

so..ya...how well does the dell air ?controller? thing moving air to the back of the case work out???

[quote][quote=ali]Athlon starts laging at 75 Degrees, when this temp reaches to 90. Bye Bye.[quote]

90? are you talking in celcius? holy **** man...this PC when it was ~110 F in the room, POOR circulation in the case, intel CPU got to ~85 TOPS (noon-2pm)

worst possible settings...but this is a 1.7GHz Pentium

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

yes...he's talking in celcius...

The Dell designs work but only when the machine is left as it is from the factory.

______________________________________-
Load temps = achieved in Prime 95 when running for over an hour

Ambient temp = sometimes refers the temp of the air inside the case, sometimes to the temp of the room the comp is in

idle temp = temp the cpu is at when not running anything (except for the os....)

A quick check reveals that it's a Volcano 11+.

Re: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ temps

My computer goes from 50-60C, depending on ambient temperature and CPU load. I've been using it for over 2 1/2 years without any problems.
