What GFX card should I get?

OK, a little time ago I was using a GF2 MX400 but then I sold it to upgrade to a new motherboard (finally DDR266!), now Iīm using integrated 32 DDR card (S3 ProSavage). It runs Counter-Strike 1024x768 @ 40fps. I have to decide between a new GF2 MX400 or a GF4 MX440 DDR, Here they cost U$D 45 (GF2) and U$D59 (GF4) - GF FX5200 U$D123!!!!. So I would go for the GF4 MX440 DDR, using a 4X AGP BUS but I heard a lot of people complaining on the forums about driver issues and dets working bad on this card. Is there a big difference btw GF2 and GF4? What card should i get?

Re: What GFX card should I get?

Well I am not too sure with the Gf4 catrds .. But the best thing to do is look at benchmarks.

www.tomshardware.com
www.hardocp.com

Those are two good ones. Hope that helps.

Re: What GFX card should I get?

the mx440 would suffice even on todays current games as long as you play at low resolutions

Driver issues with the card? Most complaints I've heard about the Geforce 4 MX is that its just not really a Geforce 4. It's drivers are pretty stable and the card is decent for the price.

Its definately better than a Geforce 2 MX anyway

Re: What GFX card should I get?

geforce4mx are simply overclocked geforce2mx cards. So with that said the geforce4mx has no more features than the geforce2mx but displays greater speed. BTW DON'T buy an ATI card.. Their drivers just plain suck and drag down system compatiblity as must games are made with nvidia to begin with and after it's done they consider the ATI scenario.

Re: What GFX card should I get?

A GF4mx will play CS fine. Althoug I like AA with CS and DoD. It really helps seeing things far away.

Here I just canīt get ATI cards, they donīt even exist here. Every store I had visited I asked for an ATI card and they looked at me as If i were crazy.

I can get a GF2 for U$D45, GF4 for U$D 59 or a GF FX5200 for U$D 123 (too expensive)

Re: What GFX card should I get?

Since there aren't ATI cards available I would have to go for the GeForce 4 MX. If you don't need DX8 or 9 it's the perfect card to get and it's twice as fast as the GeForce 2 MX.

So they don't sell ATI cards there. That's funny, there are more ATI cards in TO than Nvidia ones. Personally I wouldn't touch Nvidia again as ATI has shown to offer so much more. And to think I was a devoted Nvidia fan before, lol.

Re: What GFX card should I get?

A GeForce3 Ti 200/500 comes to mind.....
It's far more better than a MX card.........
And you could find one at a cheap price...
