You want to overclock yep well I'd spend a bit more on some decent branded memory for a start even though yours is rated at 200ddr I'd get some thats rated higher than that or at least 200ddr at high timings.
I'd take the risk with the power supply because you'll soon find out if its upto the task of running the system but I dunno if you'll find a decent xp1700 in 3 months as where I am there pretty scarse, I'd get the barton2500 instead if you cant get the 1700. Im pretty sure you'll reach 2ghz easy though as I have a pretty crap xp1800 (1.6v version not 1.5v like a decent xp1700) and that breezes past 2ghz completly stable. If your getting that in 3 months then I'd take another look at whats about then before making any decisions, Im buying the NF7 and a xp2500 barton next week because I think there the best things about right now. Hunt a bit more too for an slk800 as there the business, for example https://www.overclockers.co.uk sells them and they ship worldwide. |

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
Just to make things clear its 400mhz DDR Sticks , not 200
![]() i can find XP 1700+ here , no problem with that . i just prefer it over 2500+ because i can overclock it to 2500+ Speed . Is the diffrence between SLK600 and 800 so big ? |

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
Yeah I realised you meant 400 total
but if I had put 400ddr than would be incorrect as its generally assumed (by me and ppl I know anyway) that the single speed is doubled if you put ddr after it anyway, theres xp1700's and xp1700's, for example one that has dut3c in the stepping code will o/c far better than a xp1700 with dlt3c in the code as the dut3c default voltage is 1.5v and the dut3c has a default of 1.6v, my 1800 is a dut3c and therefore only hits 2ghz by increaseing the volts up to 1.8 which puts the cpu temp up a lot.So you cant really assume the 1700 you get will hit 2.1ghz+ allthough Im sure it will. As for me I'll take the xp2500 and try to hit xp3000 speeds with it, but its all a bit of a lottery. As for the SLK600 I havent ever used one and havent seen reviews comparing it to a SLK800 so I cant say if its decent or not to honest. But the system does look good so Im sure you'll be pleased whatever you get

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
The smartfan won't fit on the SLK-600. If you want the SLK-800U(i suggest that) then you can get it here. http://www.svc.com/thslsocob.html SVC also has that kick @$$ case that sxamiga got. http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40081 http://www.svc.com/rasc66alcaw4.html They have it on different colors too. It comes with a 4200 watt PS wich would be better for overclocking. SVC is also good for good cheap fans, lighting, round cables, ect. Just some suggestions that I have that I think would help you.

GSDragoon..
>>...comes with a 4200 watt PS wich... seriuos wattage =) blow somepower with that puppy lol...anyways... personally id go with a 2500+ isntead of 1700+...thats what ive got...if your overclocking that much you really do need to cool that very well...your GFX card is pwnage...even though its ati...and your ram and everything else is just nice to put it down simply...the only thing i really object to is that CPU...but whatever floats yoru cheese sandwich is fine =) |

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
I could get a 2500 i suppose . but id still be below that 2gHz mark i set myself to get , and a true 2ghz CPU costs waaaay too much here (18% tax plus greedy retailers make israeli prices outrigously high..) so XP1700+ overclocked is the cheapman's 2ghz cpu (aka me, this is a budget comupter after all ..)

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
That processor I think is a good choice, especially for ppl that want speed for not much $. The NF7 is a good board, but which one are you getting (nf7, nf7-m or nf7-s)? I tried looking up that memory on newegg but I didn't find anything. If you can't find a slk-800 or 900 then I guess the 600 will have to do. I don't know how it compares to the higher priced ones tho. That fan pushes a good amount of air (I think) but from what I heard it is noisy so if you want something quieter, then go for a lower flow fan, they tend to be quieter but your temps will most likely go up with a less powerful fan. I think ppl have said the panaflo fans are good. The video card is very good (of course) and since I haven't seen that case befora I can't say anything about it. As for the power supply, 300w should be enough to get it running but as you add more stuff or the more you o/c, that 300w ps might not be enough. In that case go with a 350w or 400w ps. I had a hd, cdrom drive, burner, and gf4 mx 420 on a 300w ps and I didn't have any weird problems with it. Hope your purchase goes well

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
NF7 Normal version , dont need the Firewire/SATA the SL version has, nor do i need the LAN card .. and for the M version, it does have the marvelous nVidia SoundStorm chip but its too expensive (i never paid too much attention to audio anyhow) .
seems ill take the SLK600, but i think GSDragoon was right about not being able to mount the SF2 .. it seems to support only 60mm fans (after visiting Theremalright's website) so ill have to find a new fan . the Delta isnt an option since it makes more noise then an airplane starting up

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
I think all of the NF7 boards come with lan onboard and the NF7-M has a built in gf4 mx 420 (I think) and you don't need that so the NF7 should be just fine. Try going to www.newegg.com. They don't ship out of the us but you can look up some different brands/models of fans to look for locally. About the sound issue, I think the package for the fan on my current (crappy) comp has either 40 cfm of air flow or 40 db for loudness (can't remember which one is 40). Is 40 db loud when it comes to cpu fans?

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
slightly i think . the Delta is considerd VERY loud and its about 55-58 dB @ 7000 or 8000 RPM .
so at last i know which heatsink to grab . thats one thing off my heart now just to find a suitable fan .. i have seen 60mm ThermelTake 2 Ball Bearing fans but i have no idea as to their quality .

Re: Last Comments about new comp please :)
I use that laudy-hell Delta fan, originally taken from GlobalWin HSF. I just put it on the new copper heat sink and the temp drasticly decreased below 50C [old one reach 65C]. For the next comp, I use Cooler Master Aero 7+ you should look at this, I think.
